A recent SEC filing has revealed the Morgan Stanley Institutional Fund's heavy exposure to Bitcoin. As of June 30, 2024, the fund's total net assets were reported to be $10,042,729, divided among 216 distinct holdings. MicroStrategy (4.0%) and BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (2.1%) were among the fund's top 10 holdings.

Despite being a relatively small fund, its holdings in MicroStrategy, which owns over 226,500 Bitcoin, and its Bitcoin ETF exposure highlight the broader institutional interest in digital assets.

This news follows recent disclosures by major TradFi giants regarding their Bitcoin ETF holdings. According to Goldman Sachs' quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the firm disclosed acquiring $418 million in Bitcoin ETFs. Similarly, Morgan Stanley reported a substantial holding in IBIT, with 5.5 million shares valued at $187 million.
