Leaker hints at key upgrades that Apple iPad Mini 7 may bring

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, a reliable source for Apple info, has recently reported that the company may announce a new iPad Mini after the iPhone 6 launch event. It will allegedly be revealed at a separate event set for October, suggesting that the September 9 "It's Glowtime" event will mostly be about new phones.

Gurman reports that Apple could be announcing the iPad Mini 7 with the M4-powered Macs, but the Bloomberg reporter did not shed any light on the expected specs. That's basically where the latest post from Apple Hub on X steps in. It shares the possible key highlights of the new small-sized tablet.

Per Apple Hub's report, the iPad Mini 7 will have the same design as its predecessor. It will reportedly even come with the same 8.3-inch LCD display. A previous report suggested that the Mini will be upgraded to OLED, but that's not expected to happen until 2025.

Apple Hub further reports that the iPad Mini 7 is expected to retain the Touch ID button present on top of the predecessor. However, the internals will reportedly see notable upgrades. For example, the report suggests that the SoC will be upgraded to an Apple A17 or A18, which would be a big improvement over the A15 powering the current tablet (64 GB WiFi curr. $379.99 on Amazon).

This would also bring support for Apple Intelligence, the company's suite of generative AI tools. Connectivity upgrade is also expected from iPad Mini 7. The report highlights that the tablet would have WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Apple Hub also reports that there will be new colors and that the tablet will support Pencil Pro.

Worth noting that Apple Hub has a history of sharing details based on rumors, so you should take all these pieces of info with a grain of salt.
