Exynos 2500: Benchmark confirms 10-core CPU and respectable performance gains for Xclipse 950 GPU

Multiple reports state Samsung has no plans to use the Exynos 2500 on the Galaxy S25 series despite the fact that it taped out earlier this year. Previous rumours suggested it would keep the Exynos 2400's 10-core CPU and use a RDNA 3 (or 3.5) based Xclipse iGPU. A new benchmark has confirmed both speculations and hints formidable gains in GPU performance.

The Exynos 2500 (s5e9955) scores 2,603 in Basemark's Sacred Path Vulkan (with Variable Rate Shading) benchmark, which also confirms its Xclipse 950 GPU. Its last-gen counterpart, the Exynos 2400's Xclipse 940, 1,956 points in the same benchmark. In the regular Sacred Path Vulkan benchmark with VRS switched off, the Exynos 2500 scores 2,496 (vs 1,985). Lastly, in The Expedition Vulkan, Samsung's next-gen GPU scores 5,917 (vs 5,194).

Overall, the Exynos 2500's Xclipse 950 is anywhere between 15-30% faster than its last-gen counterpart. The test device in question has 16 GB of RAM and is running an early Android 15 build. Of course, this is a pre-production sample and the final product will fare much better. However, we may have to wait until H2, 2025 to see the Exynos 2500 in action when it is rumoured to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
