MSI was the only well known PC manufacturer with an exhibition stand at IFA. Here, visitors could not only test out the MSI Claw with Lunar Lake. MSI also presented four new laptops with Intel Core Ultra Series 2. All four are for the business sector.
The new MSI Summit 13 AI Evo is a convertible with 360 degree hinges, capable of being converted into a tablet. It uses Core Ultra 200V, with the data sheet listing the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. The screen size sits at 13.3 inches, with the resolution of WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200). The IPS LCD support pen input with 4096 levels of pressure (MPP 2.6 pen). Despite the small chassis, the MSI packs a big 70 Wh battery.
All these components are inside a thin dark gray aluminum chassis, which has notably glossy bronze sidewalls. Especially with the angled corners at the back, the MSI laptop looks a lot like HP's Spectre x360 line of laptops. The MSI Summit 13 feels very stiff and does not bend. It also has a pretty small wide touchpad as well as a rather big bezel under the screen. Above it is the long reverse notch, which houses a webcam with a physical webcam switch. Aside from the privacy shutter, the ports are also a nod to the enterprise focus, as the MSI Summit 13 has two Thunderbolt 4 ports in addition to two legacy ports (HDMI and USB-A)-
The MSI Summit 13 AI Evo will come out in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Much more conservative designs without design gimmicks like glossy side panels are the three MSI Prestige laptops. Here, MSI offers everything from small (13.3-inch) to big (16-inch).
Design wise, the small MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo looks different from the two bigger siblings, as it has a drop-down hinge design that also props the laptop up. The bigger MSI Prestige 14 and MSI Prestige 16 offer a classic construction with hinges on the base. All three MSI laptops have OLED options, the battery capacity sits at 75 Wh (13), 90 Wh (14) and 99 Wh (16). The chassis are made out of magnesium and aluminum. All three have physical webcam shutters. The bigger models also offer RJ45-Ethernet, and the 16-incher has a full-size SD card slot.
The MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo will be available in September 2024. The bigger variant will take longer to get to the market, but they are also slated for a late 2024 release.
