PlayStation 5 Pro performance leaked: Console can reportedly hit 4K 60 FPS without PSSR
The recent PlayStatation 5 Pro announcement caused quite a stir among fans and enthusiasts. Its prohibitively high price tag plus lack of a disk drive/vertical stand resulted it in being one of the most disliked console reveals on YouTube. Is the extra ~$300 (including disk drive/stand) worth it for what is essentially a mid-cycle refresh? A new leak from Moore's Law is Dead attempts to answer that question.
YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead, one of the first people to accurately predict the PlayStation 5 Pro's hardware prowess, has heard from sources that the consoles can run games natively at 1600p-2160p at a steady 60 FPS. This is with maximum visual fidelity, but these figures might not be attainable with raytracing thrown in the mix. In titles that aren't visually demanding, the coveted 4K 120 Hz milestone could be possible, something Sony is trying out actively.
Sony's in-house AI-powered upscaling tech, PSSR, has also received internal revision. Apparently, Sony has added 'just usable enough RAM' to the PlayStation 5 Pro via 'Memory system optimizations'. For CPU intensive titles, developers can squeeze out 10% more performance at the expense of just 1.5% GPU performance. Then again, that won't account for much as its aging Zen 2 CPU will almost certainly be unable to keep up with the newer GPU.
It'll be a while before we find out how the PlayStation 5 Pro performs in real life While some predicted it could be close to the Radeon RX 7700 XT, others speculate it could go as high as a Radeon RX 7800 XT thanks to identical CU count and new raytracing features. The RDNA 4 raytracing IP, in particular, is something to look out for as it will give us a glimpse into what AMD's next-gen Radeon RX 8000 series GPUs have in store for us.
The above is the detailed content of PlayStation 5 Pro performance leaked: Console can reportedly hit 4K 60 FPS without PSSR. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
