Huawei is merely a few days away from the launch of the new Watch GT 5 series on September 19, 2024, as covered in a previous report. The Chinese tech giant is expected to unveil the smart wearable shortly after it launched the groundbreaking Mate XT tri-fold smartphone.
The Huawei Watch GT 5 is expected to be launched during its "Innovative Product Launch" event in Barcelona. We've had past leaks confirm the watch's new TruSense sensor. Now, freshly leaked details showcase the designs, and reveal that the Watch GT 5 will come in 41mm and 46mm sizes, both retaining last year’s design cues but featuring some internal upgrades that set them apart from their predecessor - the Watch GT 4. Both models include a rotating crown and a secondary programmable button, as speculated previously. What's more, the renders definitely look in line with the promo materials Huawei released earlier this month - have a look below:
Huawei’s new TruSense sensor technology will reportedly be a huge upgrade from the TruSeen 5.5 tech used in the Watch GT 4(currently $218 on Amazon). This updated system is reported to offer faster, more accurate health readings. TruSense will enable monitoring of key metrics like heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation level), and body temperature with higher precision. As per the leak, Huawei will also provide faster readouts with its Health Glance feature - letting users check over 10 health indicators, including ECG, arterial stiffness, stress levels, and cardiovascular risks, all in under 60 seconds.
4The list of upgrades doesn't end here. The report further states that the Huawei Watch GT 5 will include over 100 sports modes and enhanced GPS for fitness tracking. The 41mm version's battery will last for up to 7 days, while the 46mm version will double that to 14 days on a single charge, if the leak is to be believed. The exact battery capacity itself is still unknown.
Pricing is expected to start around €250 ($277), but no official announcement has been made (yet). The wearable space is quite cutthroat as of now, with brands like Garmin and Apple incorporating new tech into their smartwatches every other month. Moreover, the Apple Watch Series 10 was just unveiled, so the competition is definitely brewing. We'll have to wait for the official launch to see how Huawei's upcoming Watch GT 5 fares against the same.
