GPD Duo: GPD reveals pricing for AMD Zen 5 and dual OLED wielding laptop with initial launch discounts also announced

The GPD Duo has well and truly missed its promised August release. Although GPD has not confirmed why that occurred, it has now revealed launch pricing for its unusual laptop. Thus, we suspect that a full release is close; exact details in this regard remain unknown, though.

As the photo below shows, the GPD Duo will be available with more than one APU choice, contrary to previous expectations. Specifically, GPD plans to offer the device at the following prices:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD - $1,270 early bird ($1,425 MSRP)
  • AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD - $1,650 early bird ($1,790 MSRP)
  • AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD - $1,860 early bird ($1,971 MSRP)

Please note that while storage will be upgradeable courtesy of two M.2 slots, all SKUs come with soldered LPDDR5x RAM clocked at 7,500 MT/s. Additionally, all SKUs should ship with a pair of 13.3-inch OLED displays that resolve at 60 Hz with 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and 500 nits peak brightness. Moreover, the Duo has a conventional built-in keyboard and trackpad, unlike the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i or ASUS Zenbook Duo (curr. $1,349.99 on Amazon), to name but a few alternatives. On top of that, GPD has equipped the Duo with an 80 Wh battery and the following ports:

  • 1x 3.5 mm jack
  • 1x HDMI 1.4a
  • 1x RJ45 Ethernet
  • 1x OCuLink
  • 1x SD card reader
  • 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
  • 1x USB Type-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode)
  • 1x USB 4
