Epson has released two fast EdgeLink document scanners that can save to cloud services, email, flash drives, and network folders – the DS-800WN and DS-900WN. These fast, duplex document scanners allow businesses to rapidly digitize receipts, bills, and other documents, greatly reducing the physical storage space required for medical, tax, and other records. The included Document Capture Pro software can convert scans into PDFs with searchable text, giving staff instant document access from anywhere in the world.
The pair can also scan directly to cloud services, email, flash drives, and network folders without a computer using the built-in ScanWay feature. The EdgeLink feature enables the scanners to be custom integrated with document management systems for complex, automated document scanning and processing. Optional fleet management software adds centralized reporting, user authentication, and management of the scanners.
The scanners have a 100-page automatic document feeder that accepts paper sizes between 2 x 2 inches (5.1 x 5.1 cm) to 8.5 x 240 inches (21.6 x 609.6 cm) and paper weights between 27 g/m2 to 413 g/m2. The DS-900WN adds a paper alignment plate for better bent and skewed paper handling. The DS-900WN has a faster scan speed maximum of 70 pages per minute (ppm) and higher daily duty cycle of 11,000 sheets versus the DS-800WN at 50 ppm and 8,000 sheets respectively.
The DS-800WN and DS-900WN have the following common features, including a 4.3-inch touchscreen. The scanners weigh 8.2 pounds (3.7 kg) and measure 11.7 x 6.7 x 6.6 inches (29.7 x 17.0 x 16.8 cm). Scans can be made of both sides of documents at once in one-pass duplex mode and are saved with an adjustable color depth (1-24 bit) and resolution (50-1200 dpi). Both have USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1000/100/10 Ethernet, and 802.11ac connectivity. They support the common TWAIN and ISIS protocols for universal scanner software compatibility with Windows 10, 11, Server 2012 to 2022, and Mac OS X 10.14 to 14 computers.
The DS-800WN has an MSRP of $999, and the DS-900WN has an MSRP of $1299. Both are available through authorized CapturePro resellers. Readers who have boxes of photos they'd like digitized can pick up a fast Epson photo scanner (like this one on Amazon).
