A TikTok user has revealed how to spot a rare 2p coin that could be worth a small fortune.
Coin enthusiasts will be delighted to know that there are a number of coins out there that could be worth a lot of money.
In recent months, specific coins have been the talk of the town after two old pennies caused a stir online.
Just previously, collectors were told one of the coins sold for £127,000 at auction so it's worth keeping an eye on your stash.
Now over on TikTok, user @CoinCollectingWizard, who boasts 198,000 followers, shared a video of himself cleaning a coin worth £1,000.
He said: "Did you know about the New Pence 2p coin worth £1,000? Don't worry though this one is 1971 and not the rare date.
"Want to know what rare New Pence coins to look out for, keep watching. After the design changed from New Pence to Two Pence in 1982, a mistake was made during production of a small number of 1983 coins."
He later explained how these coins were actually struck with the old inscription New Pence, so what you really need to look for is the 1983 2p coins.
The user added: "If it says New Pence on the reverse instead of the words Two Pence then you have found it.
"If you are lucking enough to find a 1983 New Pence 2p in your change, then it is worth around £1,000. You are more likely to find the coin in the 1983 Royal Mint set though as this is where the mistake happened."
These coins have been found by collectors and at one point were worth around £400.
But in this day of age it could have a higher value, according to the user.
The error piece is highly desirable after a small number of coins featured a mistake with the wording.
The glitch made the designs extremely valuable and the correct pre-1983 New Pence coins are worth little compared to the ones featuring the error.
Since it was shared on TikTok, it garnered hundreds of likes and comments.
One said: "I have it," while another TikTok user pointed out: "Worst thing to do on a coin."
And someone else agreed: "Never clean coins."
