The Oppo Find N3/OnePlus Open could have looked different based on these leaked images

During the process of building a smartphone, there are usually numerous iterations before a final decision is made. Sometimes, some of the scrapped designs make it out to the public, revealing what could have been. The latest case of that happening is the Oppo Find N3(sold as the OnePlus Open in some markets) whose renders of a shelved design have surfaced online.

The images, which were posted on Weibo, show the Oppo Find N3 could have launched with a two-tone finish instead of the single color/material finish that eventually made it to store shelves. The Find N3 is sold in four colors with two material finishes. There's Green and Gold which have a glass back, and there's Black and Red which have a vegan leather finish.

However, these renders show the phone could have launched with what seems to be a mix between metal/glass and leather. They also show the phone would have had Oppo and Hasselblad branding on the vertical stripes.

Save for the colors, the rest of the design is the same as the final product. From the rounded corners of the frame to the humongous circular camera island on the back, it is clear the design of the phone was already finalized at this stage.

We can only speculate as to why Oppo decided to go with a single color/material finish for the final product. Nevertheless, both the Oppo Find N3 and OnePlus Open (curr. available on Amazon for $1,299) have received praise for their design. However, if you prefer the two-tone finish, there's theOppo Find X7 Ultra with its faux leather and frosted glass design.
