A rare 1p piece with a "unique" date recently went under the hammer for an eye-watering £140,000
People are being urged to check their £2 coins as three designs could be worth "thousands".
TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard, who has 174.1k followers on the platform, highlights rare coins in his daily videos.
In a recent video, he showed viewers three £2 coins that are worth keeping an eye out for.
"Whip out those £2 coins, some of them are worth thousands," he said, reports Lancs Live.
The first coin is the 2014 coin that was issued to mark 100 years since the First World War began.
The coin features the likeness of Lord Kitchener, the British military leader who was well-known for his appearance on wartime recruitment posters.
"The error version is missing the words 'Two Pounds' from the side," the TikTok user explained.
The coin, which is the variant lacking the ‘Two Pounds’ inscription, could fetch a price of over £1,000.
Coin enthusiasts are also buzzing about a misprinted £2 coin, which has been dubbed the "fried egg" due to the design error.
The error makes the middle of the coin look like it's spilled across the outer rim.
If you're lucky enough to find one of these in your change, it could be worth upwards of £600.
In another exciting discovery, a 2014 coin has been found with a minting mistake on its face, featuring an incorrect inscription.
The unique error could see collectors willing to pay around £30 or more for it.
"If you have this coin from 2016, these coins have the wrong inscription for King and country," the TikTok user said.
"This normally sells for around £30."
