Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 rumoured to get a massive clock speed bump, but only for one variant
With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 due to launch later this month, we have a decent idea about the chip's specs thanks to a bunch of Geekbench listings and leaks. Now, a popular Weibo leaker has revealed some information about its successor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will keep its predecessor's 2+6 configuration. However, its P-cores (codenamed Pegasus) will be clocked at 5.0 GHz, while the E-cores will operate at 4.0 GHz. This is remarkably higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's P and E-cores, which are clocked at 4.32 GHz and 3.53 GHz, respectively.
However, only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 manufactured on TSMC's N3P node will be clocked at the above mentioned speeds. An earlier rumour said Qualcomm planned to dual-source its flagship SoCs from TSMC and Samsung Foundry
The regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 would be made on a TSMC node, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for Galaxy would use Samsung's SF2 node. For now, its clocks are unknown, but if SF2 is all that it's hyped up to be, it could match, or even outperform its TSMC-made sibling.
The above is the detailed content of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 rumoured to get a massive clock speed bump, but only for one variant. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
