HP unveils four Poly Studio video bars for remote office conferencing
HP has unveiled four Poly Studio video bars for remote office conferencing during its annual HP Imagine 2024 event. The AI-powered video bars allow office workers worldwide to join Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom video meetings.
Office workers can join online video meetings using the webcam built into most laptops. However, the limited field-of-view of these webcams limits the number of people visible to two or three. The new Poly Studio video bars are designed for small and large conference rooms.
The Poly Studio V72 and X72 are designed for larger rooms approximately 28 x 15 feet in size. The video bars use two 4K 20-megapixel cameras for coverage. One camera has a 70-degree horizontal field of view, while the other has a 120-degree HFOV. The built-in beamforming microphones in these video bars have a range of 25 feet. Sound is produced from a two-way dual speaker setup with bass ports.
The Poly Studio V32 and X32 are designed for smaller conference rooms approximately 15 x 10 feet in size. The video bars use a single 4K 20-megapixel camera with a 120-degree HFOV. The built-in beamforming microphones in these video bars have a range of 15 feet. Sound is produced from a dual speaker setup.
The X-series bars are all-in-one solutions that plug directly into Ethernet networks and have built-in software to make video calls with Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom clients without the need for a computer. The X-series bars also support standard H.323 or SIP protocol video calls. The V-series bars are USB devices that require a host computer to connect to online collaboration platforms.
All models are powered by the latest Poly StudioOS 4.4, which has AI-powered features to support meetings and setup. Before the meeting begins, DirectorAI Perimeter: Live Setup can be used to set the range of camera coverage, hiding areas of the room that should not be shown. NoiseBlockAI v2 actively monitors the audio stream for annoying background noises and room reverberations, then removes these annoyances. The new Poly Labs program gives users access to beta features such as VoiceScoreAI, which gives staff AI scores of the meeting sound quality and recommendations for improving the sound quality in future meetings.
For those managing the corporate IT infrastructure, the ability to remotely manage Poly Studio video bars has been added as a feature of the Poly Lens Premium subscription. The feature will initially be offered for free, then transitioned to a paid service.
Readers working from home who want to look and sound their best during virtual stand-ups can pick up a nice Logitech Brio Pro X 4K HDR webcam with noise-canceling microphones (here on Amazon) along with a Logitech Litra Glow full-spectrum LED light (here on Amazon).
Some of the offerings are available immediately, including the X72 at a $6,999 MSRP,Poly CloudConnect for Zoom Rooms, andPoly Lens Premium. Some offerings will be released later in 2024, including the V72 at a $4,999 MSRP,Poly VideoOS 4.4, and Poly Labs. The remaining offerings will be released in the first half of 2025.
