Although this project surfaced last year, one comment on DistroWatchclaims that today's Liya Linux was previously known as AnitaOS, a Puppy Linux-based distro that was available for nearly a decade. However, there seems to be no connection between the two, so it is very likely that the comment is entirely inaccurate. On SourceForge, the Liya 2024 project has the following versions available to download: 1.2 Rehana, 2.0 Aadnya, and 2.1 Siya. Liya 2.1 arrived less than a day ago, and it comes with quite a few changes.
According to its creator, "Liya is designed to provide a seamless blend of efficiency, security, and simplicity, making it the ideal choice for modern computing needs." While the list of software packed in the ISO includes the OnlyOffice suite, Liya does not include yet popular pieces of code such as GIMP, InkScape, Firefox, or Thunderbird. Obviously, these (and many others) can be installed by the user via the Pacman package manager.
Out of the total of over 1,300 packages included in the distro, some of the more important ones that get refreshed in Liya 2.1 Siya and their new version numbers are alsa-lib (1.2.12), bind (9.20.2), gtk (4.16.1), kmod (33), openssh (9.9p1), openssl (3.3.2), vim (9.1), as well as the kernel, which went up to version 6.11.0-1. For now, there are no official release notes available, but those interested in this project can watch the official forumand websitefor the latest news (sadly, the forum is not popular at all).
Arch Linux: Arch Install, Maintenance, Web Development with Apache Web Server & CodeIgniter4, & Bootstrap5 Tricks and Tipsis available in Kindle format for $10.77, and those who want it in paperback form must shell out $30.08.
