Garmin is rolling out a new stable release, software version 20.29, to the Forerunner 955. This latest update follows shortly after version 20.26, which launched earlier in September. Comparatively, the newer update is much smaller.
The change log for version 20.29 lists two bug fixes. The first is for an issue where the incident detection tool remained active after an activity. The second tackles a problem where the wearable could crash when a user started an activity. However, there appear to be new bugs in the software. Many customers have flagged in the Garmin Forum that their sleep is not being recorded following the update. Plus, Forerunner 955 Users have reported that audio prompts are getting stuck in a loop and their connected phone is partially freezing, a problem that also occurred with version 20.26.
Garmin has yet to respond to these forum posts, leaving users unclear as to when they can expect resolution for these problems. According to the company, stable software version 20.29 has reached all Forerunner 955 smartwatch users. You can download it by going to the Menu > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
