Casio has unveiled two new models in its G-Shock G-Lide GLX-5600 Series in Europe. The first is the GLX-5600WHR24-2, developed in collaboration with surfing brand Western Hydrodynamic Research. This model has a blue resin case and bracelet, with the latter featuring the words “Take only pictures” and “Leave only footprints”.
The second is the GLX-5600KB-1, designed with professional surfer Kanoa Igarashi; this will be their third wearable since the partnership began. The latest model has a black bio resin casing and bracelet with a subtle wave inspired pattern. Igarashi’s signature is shown above the digital display, as well as on the electroluminescent (EL) backlight. On top of this, Casio claims that ion plating improved shock resistance.
Aside from their appearance, the watches appear identical. They are waterproof up to 20 bar and offer tide charts and lunar data. You can also select from 29 world time zones, and use stopwatch, timer and alarm functions. Plus, they can run for up to seven years on a BR2025 battery. The Casio G-Shock G-Lide GLX-5600WHR24-2 retails for £129/€149. At the time of writing, the Casio G-Shock G-Lide GLX-5600KB-1 is currently only available for Casio ID members to pre-order, priced at £139/€159.
