It was initially expected that Tesla would unveil its previously leaked Robotaxi back in August of this year, but CEO Elon Musk postponed the event, citing aesthetic changes to the front of the robotaxi and additional time needed for a few last-minute feature improvements. While Tesla itself previously confirmed the October 10 date for the Robotaxi event, which is expected to happen at the Warner Bros. studio in Los Angeles, CA, it had not yet sent out invitations to shareholders, meaning the event could still easily have been postponed again.
Several Tesla shareholders today posted their invitations to the We, robotevent on social media platform X. It's expected that Tesla will use the Warner Bros. film set to unveil the Robotaxi, since that allow it to offer demo rides to attendees without running into legal ramifications by being on public roads. Some have speculated that the Robotaxi event will also see the announcement and rollout of FSD 13, which is slated to introduce automated reverse parking and dramatically reduce the number of interventions per mile driven on FSD.
Mind you, FSD 13 is still expected to be a supervised version of the automated driving suite, so just how Tesla manages to reach full autonomy in its Robotaxi remains to be seen. The supposed Robotaxi was spotted earlier this monthon the Warner Bros. lot sporting a new front bumper design and some seriously unorthodox looks that could either be camouflage or a cover for advanced self-driving computers and sensors. The location of the Robotaxi sighting again suggests that the automated vehicle will be shown off on the film set rather than on public roads.
