Decathlon has launched two new e-scooters in Europe: the BTWIN SD500e and BTWIN MD500e. The two folding models are almost identical, each powered by a 350W brushless motor for a top speed of 25 kph (~16 mph), triggered by a thumb-throttle.
The SD500e has a 5.2Ah battery with a predicted range of 25 km (~16 miles), while the MD500e has a larger 10.4Ah battery for up to 35 km (~22 miles) range. Both models have a front engine brake and rear disc brake. Between the handlebars is a large display, showing your current speed, your power mode and your remaining battery level. The 10-inch tubeless tires are said to be puncture-resistant and help to make your ride more comfortable. Plus, the e-scooters come with a headlight, a kickstand and a bell.
Whilte the SD500e has a gray finish, the MD500e is black. The scooters are said to weigh around 16.2 kg (~35.7 lbs) and are rated as IPX5 water resistant, making them splashproof. Decathlon suggests a maximum recommended height of 1.95 m (~6’ 5”) and a maximum load of 100 kg (~220 lbs). You can buy the Decathlon BTWIN SD500e and MD500e electric scooters for €299 and €399, respectively.
