The Mix Fliplooks very promising according to its datasheet, and the Chinese manufacturer's alternative to the Galaxy Z Flip6 is ahead of the Samsung smartphone in many ways. But our test of the Xiaomi smartphone also reveals some weaknesses in comparison to the Galaxy Flip 6. We can only mention a few weak points here, and you can find out about additional differences in our review.
A disappointment in theMix Flipis the 50-MP tele camera with a focal length of 47 mm similar to a compact camera. In terms of lossless 2x zoom, the manufacturer decided to leave out an ultrawide angle lens. As soon as digital computation is used in zoom photos, the pictures look artificial and offer hardly any detail. The extent of the problem becomes apparent when looking at the comparison pictures in our test, where the Galaxy Flip 6 without tele lens reproduces more details in the 5x zoom. The 50-MP main camera is also unable to completely convince us in dark light. Even though the low-light capabilities of the Mix Flip are significantly more developed than those of the Honor Magic V Flip, the Galaxy Z Flip6 shows that visibly more sharpness and details are possible with an ISOCELL GN3 of almost identical size.
Until now, the Mix Fliphas only been available in China (and as an import starting from about $960), a global availability of the Xiaomi smartphone is more than likely. At this point, the manufacturer has not offered any specifications about software updates on the Chinese internet. The currentXiaomi 14 generationwill be provided with four years of Android upgrades and five years of security patches. We assume that the Mix series will get a similar policy here. A Galaxy Z Flip6 with a total of seven years of update support is also better positioned in this regard.
In the home network, the Xiaomi smartphone communicates with the most current WiFi 7 standard including MU-MIMO support, although the Mix Flip only uses the 2.4 and 5 GHz ranges to create a connection. In comparison to the Galaxy Z Flip6 with "only" WiFi 6E but which supports the 6 GHz band, we measure significantly higher transfer rates.
TheXiaomi Mix Flipalso does many things right, with the large, almost bezel-less 4.01-inch secondary display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz as a highlight. Find out in moreour test about the other areas where it also surpasses the Galaxy Z Flip6.
