The steady flow of Australian and New Zealand horses to North America continues unabated, and the class of horse being sold ranges from Cup class pacers down to virtually maiden class horses.
A total of 41 pacers and trotters have been cleared to race in North America this year, according to Harness Racing Australia statistical data.
The list includes Grand Circuit stars Spirit Of St Louis, Expensive Ego and Bondi Lockdown, WA Oaks winner Taking The Miki and the Group winners Aardie’s Flash NZ, Mahomes, Teddy Disco, Coco’s Dream, Finvarra, Lucky Mum NZ, Sanday, Turn The Page NZ and Watching Our Coin NZ.
Of the 41 horses exported, 23 have already emerged successful in their adopted country.
Big Skewy, a NZ bred son of Sportswriter, heads up the list with seven successes, $US115,430 in stakes and a record of 1:48.6.
Turn The Page (by Vincent), a Group 3 winner in Perth, is the only other 1:50 credit among the exports.
Others to take fast records in America include Bonnie Prince Louis NZ 1:50.2 (by Sweet Lou), Watching Our Coin 1:50.2 (by He’s Watching), Mach’s Legacy 1:51.2 (by Mach Three), the Victorian bred Holi Starzzz 1:51.4 (by Four Starzzz Shark), The Beaudene Blues NZ 1:51.4 (by Betterthancheddar), Watts Up Sunshine 1:51.4 (by Sunshine Beach) and Humble 1:51.6 (by American Ideal).
Bout Damn Time, a Victorian bred daughter of Art Major who raced only three times in Australia, has won five of her 10 outings in America and reduced her mark to 1:54.6.
