Tirupati, Dec 26: Andhra Pradesh MLC Zakia Khanam has landed in hot water after being booked by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Vigilance officials for allegedly selling Tirupati VIP darshan passes at six times the original price.

According to TTD officials, Khanam was caught red-handed by the Vigilance sleuths while selling the VIP darshan passes to a group of pilgrims at an exorbitant price on Monday. The officials said that the MLC had purchased the passes for Rs 500 each, but was selling them for a whopping Rs 3,000 each.

Upon being confronted by the Vigilance officials, Khanam reportedly tried to flee the scene, but was eventually apprehended by the sleuths. The officials also seized the passes and the money from her possession.

The MLC has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the TTD Act. She is likely to be produced before a local court on Tuesday.

This incident has sparked outrage among the pilgrims and TTD officials alike, with many demanding strict action against the MLC. The officials have also vowed to crack down on any such illegal activities within the temple premises.
