Coin Street is set to celebrate 40 years of being a social enterprise and honour Black History Month with a free community day.

The event will be held at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday 26th October and is open to the general public and locals.

As part of the day there will be the premiere of ‘Imagine’, a new film by Jonah Wyn Pugh which features over 32 local people contributing a line to a poem.

Pugh said: “The stories and values that shape this community are a testament to the power of unity and purpose.

“Through Imagine, I sought to capture the heart of Coin Street — a place where people come first and where community spirit thrives.

“I’m honoured to have been part of celebrating 40 years of such a remarkable place.”

The film will debut alongside the ‘Coin Street Stories’ exhibition, a digital archive of personal accounts from people with a connection to the neighbourhood.

There will also be live performances, interactive displays, the cutting of a special celebration cake and the unveiling of a commemorative tapestry created by local people.

Danny Coombs, Youth & Community Programmes Coordinator at Coin Street, said: “Coin Street invites everyone to join this special day, which will celebrate the past, present, and future of the South Bank community while paying tribute to the cultural richness that continues to shape it.”

The event will run this Saturday at Coin Street neighbourhood centre, 108 Stamford Street, London, from 1pm-7pm and ‘Imagine’ will premiere at 2pm.
