Ronin Network Adopts Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP)
The Ronin Validator community has taken a huge step forward by deciding to adopt Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the network's canonical cross-chain architecture.
The Ronin community has decided to adopt Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the network’s canonical cross-chain architecture. This choice is meant to increase the security of assets connected to Ronin, underscoring the network’s commitment to raising its general dependability. Notable partners, including Layer Zero and Axelar, who participated in the distributed selection process, were part of the rigorous and cooperative process leading up to this integration.
“We’re excited to announce that the Ronin community has selected Chainlink CCIP as the network’s canonical cross-chain architecture.”
Ronin started a necessary process back in August by asking two outside companies to audit the Ronin Bridge. A clear goal motivated this action: to enhance the security and accessibility of the ecosystem. Back in August, Ronin began a crucial process by engaging two external firms to conduct audits of the Ronin Bridge. This initiative was driven by a single goal: to improve the ecosystem’s security and accessibility.
The audits highlighted the need for a strong and established bridge solution, which led Ronin to start in September a thorough, three-phase request-for-proposal (RFP) process. Three possible providers—Layer Zero, Axelar, and Chainlink CCIP—made up this RFP.
Following extensive review and a tough voting procedure, the last choice was decided in October. With 10 votes, Chainlink CCIP locked the majority, Layer Zero trailed with 3 votes, and Axelar earned none. For Ronin, this result signaled a turning point as it highlighted the community’s preference for Chainlink’s solution in enhancing the network’s infrastructure.
The shift to Chainlink’s CCIP is planned with the community in mind, guaranteeing minimal disruption. Users of the network can rest assured that current Ronin tokens will not require any manual migration actions, streamlining the process for token holders.
According to the migration strategy, all assets linked via the present Ronin bridge will transition to using CCIP for native cross-chain transfers. This support will initially cover transfers between the Ethereum and Ronin networks, with full migration expected to be completed within two to three months.
Complementing Ronin’s remarkable ecosystem development, CNF earlier reported the great community involvement with over 224 million RON tokens staked by 285,083 unique delegates. This large participation demonstrates the community’s faith in the network’s future. Pixels Online has also become a major player on the Ronin Network with 772,278 active members, highlighting the network’s central role in the expanding Web3 gaming landscape.
Meanwhile, the native token RON was trading at approximately $1.32 at the time of writing, with a daily trading volume of $8.35 million and a 3.92% decrease over the last 24 hours.
