Most trophies and achievements in Dragon Age: The Veilguard are nice and simple. You just need to complete the story quests, complete the companion quest paths, and find all the hidden collectibles in the game. However, one called The Unbound is vague and asks you to uncover an ancient threat.
You might think the solution involves opening the secret doors and rooms in the Lighthouse, but you actually need to head to unlock a side quest called Restless Spirits. It'll soon become clear why the quest is tied to a major secret trophy, as it's not as simple as most side quests in the game.
The Restless Spirits side quest can be found in Necropolis. You need to speak to Myrna in the central hall and you'll be told of an undead horde to defeat in a room nearby. However, you need to solve a puzzle to get into it.
Head into the four open doors inside the central hall and release one wisp from each. Then, take those wisps over to the objective door one at a time to unlock it. Once you've done so, a skeleton will appear, pull on a chain, and open the door to a new section of the Necropolis Halls.
You simply need to defeat the demons to complete the quest. However, this is only the first part of unlocking the Unbound Trophy or Achievement. You'll hear a mysterious voice coming from behind another locked door, and looking around the area for clues informs you that you need to kill three more powerful demons to unlock the door and face what is inside.
You'll then be given the Pinnacle Of Its Kind quest, which asks you to hunt down those demons.
This part of the quest is simple in theory, but the fights can be a little tough. You need to kill three demons across Thedas, and they can be found in:
Thankfully, they're not hard to find, being out in the open somewhere you've already been. You'll be taken right to them by the waypoint marker. They are all called The Formless One, but each has different elemental abilities.
I found focusing on ranged and Stagger attacks made them simple enough to beat.
You can fast travel to each Formless One location in Thedas, with beacons very close to each fight.
Once you've beaten them all, head back to the hall in the Necropolis where you heard the first mysterious voice and completed the Restless Spirits quest.
Once you've returned to Necropolis, the door will open, and The Formless One will take its final form, a High Dragon. This Dragon works just like any dragon in the game. You need to focus on Stagger damage, as it'll give you the best chance to do additional damage. Once you fill the purple bar, The Formless One will fall on its side and you'll be able to attack the purple weak point on its stomach.
In this fight, other undead enemies will also spawn periodically throughout. You should focus on them when they appear before returning to take on the dragon.
For the most part, attacking the dragon's legs from up close is the best way to fight it. You'll need to dodge the leg sweep at times, but it's the best way to attack it. Throughout, try to avoid fighting The Formless One face one, as its blue lightning beam attack is the toughest to avoid. As the dragon moves, stay by its side.
When the dragon flies up into the sky, keep your eyes on it, as it'll fire blue beams down at you, and you'll need to dodge them. While it is on its perch, which will happen twice in the fight, focus on ranged attacks and companion abilities. You won't do massive amounts of damage, but you'll chip away at its health bar.
Once you've finally beaten the dragon, the The Unbound trophy or achievement will pop. It's worth noting that you've now also beaten one of the High Dragons in Dragon Age: The Veilguard; there's also a trophy or achievement to unlock that asks you to defeat all of them, so you're a step closer to that as well.
