Uniswap now offers native cross-chain swaps, enabling users to transfer assets directly between major blockchains without third-party services. This capability is made possible by Uniswap's integration with the Across Protocol. Here's how it works:

Users can now seamlessly move native assets, such as ETH on the Ethereum blockchain or ARB on Arbitrum, directly through Uniswap's interface. This eliminates the need for external bridges, which were often difficult to use due to their complex interfaces and lengthy transaction times. Stablecoins are also supported by the new bridging feature.

The Across Protocol operates through decentralized liquidity pools and relayers, avoiding reliance on centralized entities. This enhances both the security and speed of cross-chain transactions.

According to Dune data, there are currently over six million Uniswap users accessing multiple chains. However, cross-chain swaps still comprise a small portion of overall activity. With the introduction of this new bridge feature, Uniswap aims to boost cross-chain usage and drive growth in multi-chain DeFi operations.

While Uniswap is expanding its functionalities, it is also facing closer examination from regulators. Earlier this year, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a Wells notice to Uniswap Labs, indicating potential enforcement action.
