Bitcoin and blockchain technology firm Blockstream has launched a research and development hub in Lugano, Switzerland
Cryptocurrency technology firm Blockstream has opened a research and development center in Lugano, Switzerland, CoinDesk reported.
The company, led by British cryptographer and early Bitcoin contributor Adam Back, will use the initiative to support BTC’s (CRYPTO: BTC) Liquid and Lightning networks, among other projects.
“The new center aims to significantly increase innovation on layer 2’s by collaborating with local startups and partners, providing resources, mentorship, as well as grants to standout projects,” Blockstream said.
The launch of the R&D hub follows Blockstream’s co-hosting of recent Bitcoin events in Lugano and Viareggio, Italy.
In August, the company unveiled plans to raise $50 million for its crypto mining venture.
Blockstream’s wallet, Blockstream Green, enables users to hold their BTC.
With the desktop version, users can track prices, monitor fees and organize UTXOs.
Greenlight by Blockstream is another platform that helps developers easily integrate non-custodial BTC payments in their applications.
