Mario & Luigi: Brothership's premiere new mechanic are battle plugs. These mix-and-match enhancers add incredible new affects to your attacks, and if used correctly, can help you dominate any battle.
Not only do plugs add amazing effects to your attacks, but they all also synergize together to create new, even more powerful effects called battle plug combos. These combos are secret at first and will only be revealed to you once you've discovered them on your own. Here's a list of all the battle plug combos in the game and the best way to use them.
If you use Attack Boost with Kaboom Attack, you'll generate more impact waves.
Boosted Kaboom combines the extra hits you get from Attack Boost with the AOE burst of Kaboom to add extra AOE damage waves to your attack. This battle plug combo demonstrates two important principles of combining battle plugs: Attack Boost will multiply the effects of other plugs, and Kaboom Attack will spread the effects of other plugs to multiple targets. Together, these two plugs create a powerful synergy and a strong foundation for even more complex combos.
If you Attack Boost and Surprise Iron Ball together, you'll increase the number of iron balls that fall.
Just like Boosted Kaboom, this combo leverages the extra hits from Attack Boost to drop a bonus iron ball on your enemy. You'll still get the benefit of Attack Boost too, so a jump attack will do three hits and drop two iron balls.
As you can imagine, pairing this combo with a specialist plug like Anti-Flying Specialist will increase the total damage you deal significantly since every hit will be a critical hit.
Pair Kaboom Attack and Surprise Iron Ball plugs together to make iron balls fall on all enemies hit by the impact wave
If you're dealing with a lot of enemies at once, this combo is a game-changer. Iron Ka-Ball gets the benefit from the Kaboom Attack AOE wave, then drops an iron ball on every enemy in range. This is a great way to spread damage around, especially when combined with a specialist plug.
Kaboom, Surprise Iron Ball, and Attack Boost are the foundations of any good Battle Plug build. Any combination of these plugs with other elemental or specialist plugs will have a powerful effect, but combining all three of them together is especially strong. With all three equipped a jump attack will get three hits, followed by two AOE waves, then two iron balls will fall on every enemy in range.
If you use two Kaboom Attack plugs together, the impact wave will affect all monsters.
What's better than on Kaboom? Two Kabooms! By doubling up on Kaboom plugs you'll increase the size of the AOE wave to make it hit every enemy, not just the ones in range of your target. This combo effectively turns regular jump and hammer attacks in Bros. Attacks.
If you have enough slots, you can upgrade any other Kaboom combo into a KaboomBOOM combo. All of the previously discussed combos become even stronger when you equip two copies of Kaboom Attack.
If you use two Surprise Iron Ball plugs together, the damage they deal will increase.
Like Kaboom, you'll eventually unlock a second copy of Surprise Iron Ball. If you equip both you'll get a bigger, badder ball, so think about all the other Surprise Iron Ball synergies and consider if it's worth juicing the spike ball a bit to make it even stronger.
If you use Kaboom Attack and a plug that causes status ailments together, the status ailment will spread to all the enemies hit by the impact wave.
Once you discover this combo, it will become one of the most frequently used in your plug rotation. Combine Kaboom Attack with Fiery Attack, Icy Attack, or Dizzifying Attack to spread that status ailment to multiple enemies in Kaboom Attack's AOE wave. Dizziyfying is an especially effective choice since it can make multiple enemies dizzy and unable to attack.

Statusplosion's chad cousin, Ka-Specialist will help you make short work of big groups of enemies. When combined with Anti-Flying, Anti-Spike, Anti-Zokket, Anti-Army, or Anti-Glohm, Kaboom Attack becomes incredibly potent.
Of course, all of the other plugs that stack with Kaboom Attack will stack with Ka-Specialist as well, so try adding Attack Boost or Surprise Iron Ball to see if you can clear an entire battlefield in a single hit.
Dizzy Burn: Pair the Dizzying Attack and Fiery Attack plugs, and a fiery tornado will appear, increasing the damage you deal.
Dizzy Ice: Pair the DIzzifying Attack and ICy Attack plugs, and an icy tornado will appear, increasing the damage you deal.
Hot, Cold, and Dizzy: If you use DIzzifying Attack, Fiery Attack, and Icy Attack together, a bomb tornado will appear, increasing the damage you deal even more.
While status effects are a little underpowered in general Brothership, don't overlook these three status-inflicting combos. Sometimes you just want to crank out as much damage as possible in a single hit, and comboing these plugs together will increase your output significantly, with the added bonus of potentially applying a status effect.
These combos are best when used in combination with Kaboom to create a multi-status Statusplosion.
