Mario & Luigi: Brothership is packed full of optional side quests, mini-games, secrets, and collectibles. Practically every inch of every island has something to uncover if you look hard enough, but there's one secret you'll only find out on the open ocean: Hidden Reefs.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

When you first arrive on Shipshape Island you'll encounter a young girl named Issa Rock. Issa stands on the north side of the island looking out at the sea, and when you talk to her she'll ask you to find 20 Hidden Reefs. These stone structures are scattered across the five seas of Concordia, so you'll need to track them down. If you're having trouble finding them all and want to know what you can get for finding them, this guide has all the reefy deets you need, guaranteed.

You'll need to progress nearly to the end of the game before you can find all 20 reefs. It's perfectly fine to wait until just before the big finale to go back and track all of them down.

Lushgreen Sea Hidden Reefs

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

Lushgreen Sea is Mario and Luigi's first stop in Concordia. There are three Hidden Reefs to find here, all located along the southern border of this region.

Weeping-Lion Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This aptly-named reef can be found in the southwest corner of the Lushgreen Sea. Weeping-Lion Reef is likely the first one you'll find.

Pensive Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This reef, inspired by Rodin's The Thinker, is east of Weeping-Lion Reef.

Pensive Reef is easy to miss if you only take the shortest path to the Great Lighthouse Island.

Squiddish Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

The Squiddish Reef looks like half a blooper rising out of the sea. You can find it on your right as you make your way south out of Lushgreen Sea on your way to Color-Ful Sea

Color-Full Sea Hidden Reefs

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

Color-Full Sea is the second region you'll explore in Brothership. There are five Hidden Reefs to find here.

Broque Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

Broque, the fancy kind of broke. The Broque Reef can be found smack dab in the middle of Color-Full Sea, grab it as soon as you enter the region.

Just-a-Fluke Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

A whale tail is sticking out of the west-most area of Color-Full Sea. The Just-a-Fluke Reef is hard to miss.

Ominous Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

After dealing with the Sharkbone on Allsand Island, this reef is practically a jump scare. Look for Ominous Reef in the southwest corner of the Color-Full Sea.

Mysterious Swirled Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

There are two reefs side by side in the southeast corner of Color-Full Sea. The first, and most disgusting, is a poop-shaped reef called Mysterious Swirl Reef. Okay Nintendo.

Eternal-Struggle Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

The last reef in Color-Ful Sea looks like two crabs fighting over a Super Star. You can find the Eternal-Struggle Reef next to the poop-shaped Mysterious Swirl Reef, unfortunately.

If you have to backtrack to find any of these reefs, don't forget you can sail much faster if you press X while look at the sea map.

Brrrning Sea Hidden Reefs

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

By the time you make it to Brrrning Sea you've seen the majority of Brothership's islands, but don't worry, there's still a lot more to see! There are five more Hidden Reefs to find here.

Shower Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This reef depicts a Shower Fish, one of the most unsettling enemies in Brothership. You can find Shower Reef in the northern part of Brrrning Sea, right next to the exit to Gulchrock Sea.

Mushroob Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

It looks like a scary mushroom, or a Mushroob for short. Personally, I would've called it a Spookyshroom, but you can find Mushroob Reef right in the center of Brrrning Sea.

Racers' Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This is the cutest reef in the entire Concordia ocean. You can find Racers' Reef, a bunny rabbit surfing on a turtle, in the southeast of Brrrning Sea.

Rooted-Turnip Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

Rooted-Turnip Reef depicts a grampy turnip, another one of Brothership's collectibles. You can find this cute little guy in the southeast of Brrrning Sea, east of Racers' Reef.

Feathered-Family Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This little bunch of birds is all the way on the east side of Brrrning Sea. Feathered-Family Reef is exactly what it sounds like, a family of birbs.

Gulchrock Sea Hidden Reefs

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

There are five Hidden Reefs in the Gulchrok Sea. Here's where to find them all.

Cater-Pillar Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

Wiggler is a Mario RPG icon, but the only sign of the cute lil guy in Brothership is this reef. You'll find Cater-Pillar Reef in the southwest corner of Gulchrock Sea.

Off-Course Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

I don't know where this rocketship is headed, but it's going somewhere. Off-Course Reef can be found, appropriately, off-course in the southwest of Gulchrock Sea.

Lovestruck Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This reef's description says "Lovers and bell enthusiasts converge here." But who doesn't love bells? Lovestruck Reef is right in the middle of Gulchrock Sea.

Tumbling-Tower Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

There are two reefs very Close together on the north end of Gulchrock Sea, though you'll reach them from very different routes. Tumbling=Tower Reef is a tower of Goombas you'll find in the current that looks like a staircase.

Dream-Guardian Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

For the hardcore Mario & Luigi fans, this reef is a reference to the Zeekeeper, a character from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. You'll find the Dream-Guardian Reef in the northwest corner of Gulchrock Sea.

StormStar Sea Hidden Reefs

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

There are two reefs hidden in StormStar Sea.

Gardener's Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

A reef shaped like a watering can is the penultimate Hidden Reef in Brotherhood. You can find Gardener's Reef in the northwest corner of Stormstar Sea.

Princely Reef

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

This reef bares a striking similarity to Prince Peasley, a supporting character from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Perhaps Peasley rode his flying bean to Concordia once upon a time?

You'll find this reef in the northernmost current of Stormstar Sea, but you won't have access to it until you upgrade Shipshape Island with the ability to travel long distances in an instant...

What Do You Get For Finding All 20 Hidden Reefs?

Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Hidden Reef Location Guide

Once you've found all of the Hidden Reefs, head back to Issa Rock on Shipshape Island to claim your prize: The HP BP Bangle.

This accessory will allow the wearer to recover three percent of their max HP and BP at the end of every turn.
