Tools and weaponry are pretty important in any RPG or survival game, and it's the same for Luma Island. Your tools are how you'll harvest pretty much every material needed for all your crafting recipes and your weapon, the Copper Whip, will help repel the dangers above and below the island.
You can't just keep the same tools and weapons around forever, though. The better the material, the stronger your tools need to be to harvest them, and you can't go wrong with killing enemies a bit quicker. To upgrade them, you'll need a special item alongside all the regular ingredients.
There are three main ways to get Tool Tokens: breaking barrels and vases in the Ancient Temples, breaking crates down in the Abandoned Farm Caves, or opening treasure chests scattered throughout Luma Island.
The most reliable and easiest way is via the Ancient Farm Temple, located near the center of your farm, next to the entrance to town. It has 12 rooms you'll need to go through without leaving, but almost every room has at least one barrel or crate to break.
Each time you go into the Ancient Farm Temple, all the barrels and vases respawn, so you can farm it for Tool Tokens and common resources.
By the end of a single run, you'll often end up with around 15 to 25 Tool Tokens, depending on your luck, and if it's your first time going through, the chest in room 12 will also give you some, alongside a Mysterious Egg.
You've also got a pretty high chance of getting a few Tool Tokens from any chests you open, but the downside to them is that they don't respawn, so you've only got a limited supply of them to get loot from.
Despite this, there's a lot of them to find, and they'll still worth it to open, not only for the Tool Tokens, but they frequently drop different Spirits, loot like Copper Ore, and the chance to get rare items like the Magical Wheat Seed.
Treasure chests will occasionally wash up on the shore near your home and those drop Tool Tokens like other chests.
You can also find Old Crates wedged in between all the Farm Rocks, ores, and charcoal while you're in the Abandoned Farm Caves, but these don't respawn unless you find the reset device for the caves.
Each time you break one, you have a small chance to get two to three Tool Tokens, but they're a rarer drop compared to if you're getting them inside an Ancient Temple and you aren't guaranteed a decent amount.
