Throughout Metaphor: ReFantazio, you'll encounter three tower dungeons whose true significance only comes into focus as you near your journey's end. When the Skybound Avatar Conquest quest begins for the showdown with Louis, you'll be called back to these towers for the optional Trial of the Dragon quests.
Among these trials, the Heroes' Rest in the Spire of Blind Faith dungeon stands out as the toughest of the lot. It's best saved for last due to the challenge posed by the Devourer of Flames dragon boss waiting at the top. Here’s everything you need to know to overcome this calamity.
To start the Heroes' Rest trial, head to Dragon Statue Plaza on Virga Island and speak with Edeni anytime after 9/25. He’ll inform you about the trials linked to the three towers, which awaken during times of upheaval, and if you prove yourself in all three, you'll gain unmatched power.
You'll return to the Spire of Blind Faith, and if you've previously explored the dungeon during the Peak Curiosity quest, its layout will be familiar.
The loot you've collected before remains gone, so don’t expect any respawns. The only differences are the high-level mobs that now inhabit the spire and the powerful dragon boss waiting at the summit.
The recommended level for attempting the Heroes' Rest Trial of the Dragon is 65 or above, and your main worry should be the dragon boss. You'll have to deal with a lot of Fire attacks that can potentially wipe out your party, so consider the following items first before heading to the dungeon.
The dragon boss you'll face in the Spire of Blind Faith is the level 70 Devourer of Flames.

Archetype | Formation | Strategy | ||||||||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Protagonist | Prince | Front | The Protagonist will be an all-around option as the healer sending party-wide heals and a damage dealer with Royal Slash. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Hulkenberg | Paladin or Royal Knight | Front | Hulkenberg will function as a tank, but she'll mostly buff party attacks by equipping the Formation of Vigor ability from Commander. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Heimsay | Ninja or Royal Thief | Front | The boss's attacks will mostly be evaded by good old Heimsay and his Thief Lineage, and that'll help you drain the boss's turn icons. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Basilio | Destroyer or Royal Berseker | Front | Basilio's Destroyer or Royal Berserker lineage resists all physical attacks, and he's practically untouchable with armour that makes him immune to Fire. |
The Devourer of Stars fight follows a similar strategy to the rest of the dragon bosses. You'll want Heismay to keep the boss in check by debuffing it and stripping away any buffs it applies, forcing the boss to waste turns reapplying its buffs, while Hulkenberg buffs your party
to keep your damage output high.On the other hand, Basilio can push damage past 7,000 with the proper setup. This involves using the Prince's Hero's Cry ability to gain four additional Turn Icons, where you can amply buff the party. Then, reserve two turn icons to use Basilio's Wanton Destruction synthesis skill
to deal damage while applying a one-time Strike weakness to the boss.On the next turn, you'll want to use the Berserker-inherited Charge ability to maximize damage and then unleash Wanton Destruction when available again
for devastating results.There's also really no reason to stay on the defensive if you follow this strategy and have the correct gear. After all, Fire attacks, including Burn Down, won’t be a threat, and you'll consistently deplete the boss's turn icons. Plus, the selected archetypes will mostly resist the boss's physical attacks
, so defence will take a back seat.
Battle rewards for defeating the Devourer of Flames include some well-earned XP, A-XP, Mag, and Reeve. The actual prize, however, is completing the trial and earning the Cardinal Dragon Armour, which bestows a 5 boost to Strength and Endurance while providing complete immunity against Fire attacks
.Overcoming all three trials has an even bigger payoff, as this breaks a seal in the Dragon Temple, which initiates the Essence of Power trial. This final challenge is where you’ll discover the elusive power
that you've worked so hard to attain.<script> window.adsNinja = window.adsNinja || {}; window.adsNinja.queue = window.adsNinja.queue || []; window.adsNinja.queue.push(function(){ window.adsNinja.queue.push(function(){ var fallbackContent = ` <video> <source src='https://video.thegamerimages.com/2024/11/metaphor_-refantazio-2024-11-19-21-19-24-1732041189.mp4' type='video/mp4'> Your browser does not support the video tag. `; try{ var result = window.adsNinja.monetizeVideo('.emaki-video-player-ac38dc0b81e7ec92', JSON.parse(`{\"name\":\"Instream-InContent\",\"groupName\":\"content\"}`), JSON.parse(`{\"trackingId\":\"in-content\",\"playlist\":[{\"title\":\"Metaphor: ReFantazio - How To Beat The Devourer Of Flames Boss\",\"description\":\"\",\"length\":\"5:15\",\"mimeType\":\"video\/mp4\",\"url\":\"https:\/\/video.thegamerimages.com\/2024\/11\/metaphor_-refantazio-2024-11-19-21-19-24-1732041189.mp4\",\"thumbnailLink\":\"https:\/\/static1.thegamerimages.com\/wordpress\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/wm\/2024\/11\/metaphor_-refantazio-11_19_2024-8_46_06-pm.png?fit=crop&w=1024&h=576\",\"textTracks\":[{\"kind\":\"subtitles\",\"label\":\"English\",\"language\":\"en\",\"url\":\"https:\/\/video.thegamerimages.com\/2024\/11\/metaphor_-refantazio-2024-11-19-21-19-24-1732041189-1732041496.vtt\",\"default\":false}]}]}`)); if(!result){ console.warn('Failed to load AdsNinja video player.'); document.getElementById('emaki-video-player-ac38dc0b81e7ec92').innerHTML = fallbackContent; } } catch(error){ console.warn('Failed to load AdsNinja video player.'); document.getElementById('emaki-video-player-ac38dc0b81e7ec92').innerHTML = fallbackContent; } }); }); </script>The above is the detailed content of Metaphor: ReFantazio - Trial Of The Dragon - Heroes\' Rest Quest Walkthrough.
