Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Mercenary Intent Walkthrough
Every map from Minrathous to Treviso is brimming with quests to find in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, if you know where to look. Mercenary Intent is one such quest that won't appear at a quiet giver or through one of the usual channels; instead, you'll need to do some legwork to find it.
Luckily, you won't need to invest much time searching if you follow our guide to the eastern portion of the map. If you get to the dock area and don't see anything, don't panic – it just means you need to look a little closer or progress another quest. This quest requires you to approach the exact spot on the docks to trigger it, but prepare for a fight once you do.
How To Start Mercenary Intent
Once you've completed A Clear Mind as part of Neve's quest line, head to the docks in Dock Town and investigate the yellow marker here.
Defeat the Mercenaries that spawn as you approach the marker, which will officially begin Mercenary Intent.
Your first order of business is to search the surrounding area for a clue.
You won't have to go far – interact with the person trapped in the cage adjacent to the boat on the dock where you begin the quest.
The prisoner will tell you to head to the nearby Venatori Warehouse along the shore.
Where To Find The Warehouse Clues
Head off the pier into the warehouse along the docks, where you'll begin a search for three clues.
- The first clue is a notice posted on the wooden pillar, directly in the center of the room.
- The second clue is a Scribbled Note on the table upstairs. Head into the small room with the ladder to the south, and you'll find it.
- The third and final clue is across the hall from the second. Open the door and read the Hasty Reply on the desk to complete this objective.
Your search directs you to Lowtide Beach – follow your marker out of the warehouse and east to head there now.
You'll arrive to find a small group of Venatori here (weak to Cold, resist Fire) to dispatch, then you'll have to release another prisoner from their cage.
What Rewards Do You Get From Mercenary Intent?
Following the prisoner's release, you'll complete Mercenary Intent and earn the following rewards:
- 500 XP
- Increased bonds with all your companions
Continue liberating Dock Town with Neve and complete her quests to cement her as the hero Dock Town needs.
