Fantasian Neo Dimension introduces its cast of characters to you somewhat slowly, especially when it comes to new members of the party. While Leo and Kina are together almost immediately, it takes a while until you eventually recruit Cheryl, and then she's gone before you know it.
And while Cheryl might feel at first like she's meant to be something of a fragile character with some powerful magic, she is actually a powerhouse all by herself, capable of taking down bundles of enemies with ease. Here's how to get the utmost damage out of her.
When you initially get Cheryl into the party, she doesn't have a massive selection of skills, though she does have one rather unique one - Knight Impact. This is a core part of her moveset, as this knight plays into many of her skills, with crowd control being a major part of where she excels.
Early on, Cheryl also gets the Divine Tiara. While she can't unlock its full potential yet, this does give a slight boost to all of her Ice attacks, already giving her a slight damage increase over other characters. And since group attack moves, like arcing Ice or the area-of-effect of Knight Impact, have no damage fall-off, it's best to make sure she's always fitting as many people into her attacks as she can.
Not long after she joins the party, Cheryl will also acquire the Focus skill, making her functionally self-sufficient as long as either Leo or Kina keep her healed. Her MP can be refilled endlessly, letting you dole out as much damage as possible. In that sense, it can be helpful to pair Cheryl with Pezzottaite jewels so she can recover MP with every enemy she defeats.
While you should primarily make Cheryl a group damage-dealer, that's not to say she can't deal incredible damage with singular attacks. Once you unlock both Charge and Concentrate with Cheryl, attacking an enemy with an Ice or Dark Strike will deal a frankly absurd amount of damage. So make sure Cheryl is always put with a companion that can boost her Attack Power even further, like Ez.
When you initially recruit Cheryl in Act 1, you only have her for a few hours of the game before both her and Kina are taken away from you. As such, you don't have an immense amount of time to actually invest in her, though she still gets a decent variety of moves in that time.
Here is every skill that Cheryl can learn by leveling up:
Skill |
Effect |
Level Unlocked |
---|---|---|
Ice | An Ice-elemental skill that arcs and can pierce enemies. | Level 8 |
Focus | Allows Cheryl to recover a significant portion of her MP for free. | Level 11 |
Ice Strike | An Ice-elemental skill that arcs to strike a single enemy. | Level 13 |
Slow | Strikes a single enemy along an arc, slowing them to reduce the frequency of their turns. | Level 16 |
As you can see, she caps out pretty early in terms of the skills she learns by leveling due to the fact that she is removed from the party early on, and until she unlocks her Growth Map. This is where the real bulk of her skills are acquired, and they provide immense strength to Cheryl's attacks than already possible.
Cheryl gets her Divine Artefact, the Tiara, almost immediately, giving her that passive bonus to Ice damage. However, she acquires the full strength of the Tiara once she is rescued in Act 2. There are the obvious skills to go for immediately, such as Jewel Slot and her Tension skill, though these are the next ones you should aim for:
These will both give Cheryl more attacks to perform, and let her reach an absurd plateau of damage. Charge, Concentrate, and Attack Power Up buffs all stack to let you turn a typical 2,000-3,000 attack to one that deals over 10,000 even on group attacks like Knight Impact. MP Cost Down will ensure she can keep going for longer.
Following these, it helps to aim for more complimentary skills. MP Every Turn is great for battles that stretch longer, Knight Impact RNG is a pure upgrade. Though they're locked behind certain nodes, Darkness, Blizzard, and their single-target variants are massively powerful when you can eventually reach them.
