The classic prestige system from past CoD titles is back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Once your account hits a certain level, you'll be able to reset your account's level to start the grind once again. Doing so will unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards for Multiplayer and Zombies, and you'll get to bypass a few weapon grinds on subsequent Prestige cycles.
There are a whopping ten Prestige ranks to get through, with an additional 1,000 levels if you manage to hit the maximum Prestige rank. Needless to say, this is an incredibly long grind that's meant for dedicated players. Let's dive into how Prestige works in Black Ops 6, how it differs from previous titles, and showcase some of the rewards you can expect to earn.
Updated November 30, 2024, by Charles Burgar: The Prestige grind is a long one in Black Ops 6, bringing back the classic progression system from past titles. To help you on the Prestige grind, we've updated this guide to include information on how to redeem Prestige Tokens as well as an overview of all Prestige rank-up rewards.
Prestige in Black Ops 6, referred to in-game as "Classic Prestige," behaves the same as in CoD games before MW2019. When your Multiplayer or Zombies level reaches Rank 55, you'll be able to activate Prestige. This will reset your account's rank and increase your Prestige score by one. Doing so will give you an exclusive emblem next to your name alongside some unique cosmetic rewards.
You may Prestige up to ten times in Black Ops 6. Once you hit Prestige 10, Master Prestige will unlock.
Unlike Prestige in more recent CoD titles, you lose access to your unlocked weapons, perks, Scorestreaks, and equipment once you Prestige; you'll need to re-unlock everything. There are some rewards you earn from Prestiging that make the process a little less painful, but keep this in mind before you start the grind.
It's worth noting that weapons keep their earned XP and cosmetics when you Prestige, so you don't need to re-unlock attachments or camos. The weapon itself will need to be unlocked again by leveling, but all the XP you've earned with that weapon is permanent and carries over between Prestige ranks. GobbleGums earned in Zombies will also remain usable.
Upon reaching Prestige 10, you will no longer be able to reset your account level. Instead, you will activate Master Prestige, a system that allows you to reach Level 1,000. Hitting this maximum level awards some unique cosmetic reward that Treyarch hasn't revealed. Master Prestige effectively works like the Prestige system from MW2 and MW3. You don't lose access to anything in Master Prestige; it's a long-term grind.
Every time you Prestige your account, you will gain three rewards:
Daily Challenges
Each Prestige rank increases the XP payouts from Daily Challenges. Be sure to complete them while on the grind to Master Prestige 1,000.
The most notable reward here is the Permanent Unlock token. Resetting your rank will award one token that can be used to unlock any item that's usually locked behind leveling your account—weapons, perks, equipment, et cetera. This unlock will not reset if you Prestige again. To use your token, inspect any item in the Create-A-Class menu and press the "Permenant Unlock Button" listed under the item's description. Doing so will display a confirmation prompt before the token is consumed.
Beyond tokens, you'll also earn exclusive Prestige cosmetics from this grind. For example, Prestige 1 awards a Zombies-themed character skin, account emblem, animated loading screen, Gobblegum pack, weapon charm, and sticker. These bonus rewards unlock either from Prestige Challenges (similar to calling card challenges) or simply leveling up.
