While Arthur Morgan does show that he has a heart on several occasions during Red Dead Redemption 2, he is still an outlaw. This means you're also an outlaw when you play since you're the one controlling him. So, you're likely to rob people and steal things a lot during the adventure.
As Red Dead Redemption 2 is a fairly realistic game, you can't just sell these stolen goods to any random general store you can find. You must go to specific locations to meet people who don't let the law get in the way of their dealings. This type of store is called a fence, and here is where you can find all of them in the game.
Fences only become available after you've left the snowy Chapter One area.
You visit Rhodes as part of the main story. It's west of Saint-Denis and north of the Braithwaite Manor. The fence within this area isn't in the heart of the town. Instead, you can find it just outside of the town to the north. The place is situated in a small area that contains a few people and some animals.
The fence is inside a small red shack. However, you can't go through the front door of the building. You have to go around the back to find the fence using a stable door (aka Dutch door) to deal with his customers.
You visit the location during the Help a Brother Out mission.
The city of Saint-Denis takes up a big chunk of the southeast portion of the map. Once you're in the city, you can find the fence on the eastern side of it.
The place is within the market area. You may need to walk past some stalls to reach the building. Near the entrance, there is some writing that says "Pawnbroker" on the wall. Go through the green door near those words to enter the shop.
The Van Horn Trading Post is a little town on the eastern side of the map. Within the town are some docks. At the end of the longest one, you will find the fence.
The building has the words "Van Horn Trading Post" on the side of it in white letters with a red background.
This Fence becomes available after completing The Spines of America.
Hosea introduces you to the Emerald Ranch fence as part of The Spines of America mission. The Emerald Ranch is in the Heartlands, between the Van Horn Trading Post and Valentine.
The fence is located at the southernmost part of the Ranch. It's attached to a large barn because it's a wagon fence, meaning you can deliver stolen wagons here. You can still sell regular stolen goods to Seamus, who's set up outside the barn.
This Fence becomes available after completing Horse Flesh for Dinner.
There is a fence just north of Clemens Point that deals in horses. It's in the Scarlet Meadows area, just northwest of Rhodes.
At the spot, you will find a few buildings that don't look so good. Behind them, you can find two guys. These are the people running the fence. You can only sell horses to these guys. They don't do any other dealings.
The map icon for this Horse fence only appears when you're on a horse.
