The long-awaited first update for Pokemon TCG Pocket brought the Mythical Island booster pack to the game. It features Mew as the main cover Pokemon and introduces a ton of new cards ready to shake up the meta in the bite-sized version of the card game.
And if you're more of a collector than a duelist, you're also in for a huge treat. More beautifully drawn cards have been introduced in this set, including regular and Full Art (FA) variants of some of the main Pokemon and Trainers in the pack, all of them being a delight to your collection.
As soon as you head to open up a pack, the highlighted cards you see include Vaporeon, Mew ex, Aerodactyl ex, Serperior (one star), Pidgeot ex (two stars), and Blue (two stars). But true to its name, Mythical Island also features the Mythical Pokemon Celebi, another big card in this new collection.
Take a look below at all the cards found in the Mythical Island pack, alongside their artwork and rarity. Some are new versions (including new art and attacks) of Pokemon already available through other packs.

This is currently the only Mythical Island pack. If new packs are to be added to the collection, their new Crown cards will likely be added to this one too.
As with other packs, certain cards have variants with different arts and higher rarity. These cards function exactly like each other regardless of the version, and there's virtually no difference between them in a match. Yes, your Mew ex deck will look much cooler if you have two Full Arts, but the effects are still the same. However, Mew ex is different from regular Mew, with different attacks, HP, and rarities, which is true for all EX versions as well.
Mythical Island contains Pokemon with the same names but different effects from those in other collections. A Mythical Island Ponyta can evolve to Genetic Apex Rapidash, but you can only have two Pokemon with the same name on your deck, regardless of collection.
As the first pack to be introduced in Pokemon TCG Pocket after its release, there's a lot of value in spending your Pack Hourglasses on Mythical Island cards; they're meant to complement existing cards, but can easily create new decks on their own. Celebi is ridiculously powerful when combined with Serperior, for example, to a point where only direct counters such as Fire decks can safely deal with it. Gyarados and Vaporeon also make for a deadly duo, bringing yet another strong Water deck to the table.
Aerodactyl ex is a good counter against evolution decks, as long as the to-be-evolved Pokemon cannot retreat. But if support for older decks is what you're looking for, Blue comes in clutch with his reverse Giovanni effect, an excellent addition to Venusaur (and many other) decks.
And most importantly, there's also the collection factor, as this is a whole new pack full of cards you probably don't have yet. You'll still want to complete other collections (if you haven't yet), but with so many interesting cards to get on Mythical Island, I wouldn't sleep on the Mew packs for now.
