Supervive: 10 Beginner Tips
Supervive is a fascinating take on a MOBA hero-shooter with battle royale elements. With a shrinking zone of survival, gliding mechanics, and randomized drops around the map, you'll be spending time moving around and fighting off enemies who threaten your state of survival.
From picking the right hero and equipment to choosing the best playstyles based on different situations—there's a lot to go over when diving into Supervive for the first time. Certain tips and tricks will help you survive longer once you jump in, and perhaps even win a match or two as you upgrade your journey through Supervive.
Glide Through Environments
The first thing you'll notice when playing Supervive for the first time is how diverse the biomes feel. There are toxic landscapes that could slow you down, then there are open spaces that cannot be traversed on foot. Whatever the case may be, it can work against you when moving around the map.
To avoid falling into a trap like this, get in the habit of gliding around more often. Not only does it save you from terrain that's not suitable for you, but it also helps you move a little faster, which can turn the tides of battle in your favor.
Choosing The Right Hunter
After the initial minutes of understanding Supervive's movement and combat mechanics, you'll start forming a play style that's unique to you. Whether it's the frontline you like to stay on or snipe from faraway places, there's a hunter who will fit right into that strategy.
When starting, we recommend playing Ghost frequently. His kit is versatile, offering more than a few ways of enjoying the game. His mobility combined with a short-to-medium-range weapon makes him useful in almost all situations. This will help you learn the game better during those first few hours.
Felix is a great beginner hunter if you want to practice a frontline approach to combat.
Buying, Using, And Looting Items
Other than the movement and combat mechanics, Supervive offers a huge pool of items that can be the difference between winning or losing a match. Some of the best power-ups ensure that you have heightened awareness and defensive abilities, regardless of how strong your enemies are.
If you're not investing money in strong items early on, you'll have to be more reliant on your scouting and looting abilities. This means that you'll need to scout for resources, especially when looting fallen enemies. Remember to press and hold 'E' to quickly loot items.
Use your mouse to hover around the corners of the screen. Sometimes, you'll spot items and enemies that weren't in your line of vision earlier.
Stay Aware Of Fog of War
When traversing the map, you'll notice certain areas that aren't visible to you
until your hero approaches them. This is commonly called the "fog of war" which is a popular MOBA mechanic. While it's safe to take your time and explore, it's not possible all the time. When in combat, make it a point to keep moving your cursor around to check for enemies
. Especially if they're behind an object or cover. This can also be used to your advantage. Simply hide behind objects and try to damage other players when they're busy fighting NPCs or other players.Practice Duos
Traditionally, a game that features MOBA and battle royale mechanics is designed to be enjoyed with a group of friends. However, Supervive has a lot of different things going on that ask you to take your time and get used to it. Hence, during the early hours of the game, having fewer numbers of teammates to worry about works in your favor
.Navigating each map and learning the basics is best done through the Duos mode
. Even if you're not communicating through voice or chat, simply following your teammate (or having them follow you) can help you familiarize yourself with the game.Frequently ping places and enemies by pressing and holding the middle mouse button.
Land At Safe Spots
At the start of the game, your squad's leader will have the responsibility of making sure where to drop in. The map is large with different biomes and rewards, and with greater rewards comes the big risk of running into other squads.
If you're new to the game and learning the ropes, it's best to drop towards the borders of the safe zone. Instead of aiming for "hot drops", choose a location that feels safe. You can always traverse to places that are rewarding once you feel stronger and prepared as the game progresses.
Jungling For Resources
Jungling is the process of hunting minions (bots or NPCs) that seem like a threat at first, but provide useful resources. Eliminating them can grant you a stronger potential for protective gear and powering up. Think of it as farming in hopes of preparing yourself for the fight against actual players later.
You can find these enemies at different locations on the map, and some of them will be hidden under the fog of war. It's always a good idea to carefully hear your surroundings, as you'll likely come across other squads that are trying to farm resources as well. You can use this to your advantage by disrupting their fight and stealing all the loot. Show them who's the boss!
Look for basecamps on the map. These are points that can be captured and provide safety and resources.
Reviving And Being Revived
Unlike many other battle royale games, being revived in Supervive isn't as stiff as pressing and holding a button. You'll have to be near your teammate at all times, as there's a big chance that you will be fighting an enemy squad as this happens.
Keep the situation in mind when this happens; if you're the one who needs to be revived, move your wisp and stay exactly where your teammate is, and if you're the one who's reviving, push yourself to only fight when next to your teammate's wisp. There's no point in leaving them and fighting elsewhere, especially once auto-reviving has been turned off in the match.
If you have knocked out an enemy, make sure you run up to their wisp and perform a finishing move, so their chances of revival are minimized.
Swapping Gear
When looting the bodies of your fallen enemies, you'll often have to make the tough decision of swapping between powers/gear. This can be a difficult thing to do when you're just starting out and not sure which items work best for a certain hunter.
A great way of knowing what to pick up would be to understand your team composition. For instance, if you're someone who's a front-liner, it's ideal for you to pick up things that boost your armor. In this case, your teammate can focus on upgrading their attacks and overall DPS.
Look for vaults! These can be hacked/unlocked at certain points on the map, and grant you some seriously powerful gear.
Don't Focus On Eliminations
Yes, this feels like counterproductive advice, but here's why — Supervive is more about honing your survivability and powers than dominating the map. Rather than focusing on eliminating every squad, focus on resource gathering, upgrading your hunter, scouting the map, and so on.
The more you do this, the more you're likely to grow stronger throughout the game. In the endgame scenario where there are just a few squads left, you'll show up with ample resources and abilities under your belt. Spending time on gathering resources also gives you time to think about which hunter ability you want to upgrade next, rather than losing those precious moments on a 1v1 fight that's not truly benefiting anyone.
