I Built @GroupUnityRobot in Go Docker, and It’s Already Managing Over 2K Members! ?

Hey Dev Community!

After 4 months of coding, debugging, and iterating, I’m excited to share my latest project: @GroupUnityRobot, a Telegram bot built in Go and deployed with Docker to streamline group management. It’s already managing groups with over 2,000 members, and I’m actively working on making it even better!

Why I Built @GroupUnityRobot

Large Telegram groups can quickly spiral out of control—spam, lack of moderation tools, and the sheer scale of messages can overwhelm admins. My goal was to create a bot that:

  1. Simplifies moderation tasks for admins.
  2. Enhances engagement for group members.
  3. Runs efficiently and scales seamlessly.

The Tech Stack
• Go Language: Chosen for its speed, simplicity, and concurrency capabilities, which are perfect for handling multiple group chats simultaneously.
• Docker: To ensure easy deployment, portability, and scalability, especially when rolling out updates or managing multiple instances.
• Telegram Bot API: The backbone for all bot functionalities, from responding to commands to processing messages in real-time.

Key Features

Here’s what @GroupUnityRobot can do right now:
• Spam Detection & Removal: Automatically filters out spam messages without admin intervention.
• Custom Commands: Admins can set and manage commands tailored to their group’s needs.
• Welcome Messages: Automatically greet new members with customizable templates.
• Engagement Tools: Includes polling, announcements, and other features to keep conversations lively.
• Group Analytics: Provides insights into member activity and engagement trends.

Challenges Over the 4 Months

  1. Concurrency in Go: Building a bot that can manage multiple groups simultaneously while staying efficient.
  2. Docker Optimization: Ensuring smooth deployments without bloating the Docker image.
  3. Telegram API Quirks: Navigating API limitations and handling rate limits gracefully.

What’s Next?

Even though it’s live and being actively used, I’m still improving @GroupUnityRobot. Here’s what’s on my roadmap:
• Role-Based Access Control: Advanced tools for admins to assign roles and permissions.
• AI-Powered Moderation: Using AI to detect and flag offensive or inappropriate content.
• Web Dashboard: A GUI for admins to manage settings and view analytics without needing technical know-how.

Your Feedback Matters!

If you’re managing a Telegram group, I’d love for you to try out @GroupUnityRobot and let me know your thoughts! Your feedback can help me make it better for everyone.

Feel free to share ideas, report bugs, or suggest features in the comments or via Telegram @devzahir. Let’s make Telegram group management smarter together!

Let me know if this captures your journey or if there are any other aspects you’d like emphasized!
