Farming Simulator 25: Complete Guide To Water Buffalo

You need to keep a lot in mind when you’re starting off livestock farming with water buffalos. However, don’t worry, we’ll be guiding you with key pointers to make the process easier – they are as follows:

  • A building for holding water buffalos and breeding them.
  • Maintaining proper water supply and fodder.
  • Keep their health to get optimal produce.
  • Getting buffalo milk and trading them for money.
  • Understanding the in-game economy and selling buffalo milk for the most profitable prices.

These pointers should be considered when building a revenue system with water buffalos.

Building A Place To Keep Water Buffalos

Farming Simulator 25: Complete Guide To Water Buffalo

At first glance, it might seem that you need to build an animal pen on water. However, that’s not the case. Water buffalos share the same pastures as cows, so you’ll need to have an animal pen under the Cow category.

If you jump into a new game without any access to a cow pasture, you’ll need to build one. To do so, you’ll need to access the build mode which can be accessed through the shortcut – Shift P.

In build mode, you’ll find a cow icon on the left. Click on it to open the Animal Pasture menu. From the get-go, you’ll be presented with the cow pasture tab with the following options:

Items Price Holding Capacity
Cow Pasture

$15,000

7

Cow Barn

$85,000

35

Cow Barn (Large)

$170,000

99

Hormann Cow Barn

$254,000

50

Hormann Cow Barn (large)

$518,500

Hormann Cow Barn With Feeding Robot

Cow pasture and some barns can hold more animals than stated if the meadow area is increased. Additionally, keep meadow grass on as it passively feeds water buffalos. To fill your pasture with water buffalos, go near the floating green animal paw icon and interact with it by pressing R or press the left stick. A new interface will open, which will allow you to buy water buffalos.

Cow Barns are automatically attached to water source, reducing the labor.

What Do Water Buffalos Eat?

Farming Simulator 25: Complete Guide To Water Buffalo

Water buffalos are great foodies as they can eat many things. However, they are a bit picky as the food’s effectiveness varies in this case. The following fodder can be given to your water buffalos:

  • Only Hay: 80 percent Effective.
  • Only Silage: 80 percent Effective.
  • Only Grass: 40 percent Effective.
  • Only Meadow Grass: 40 percent Effective.
  • Mixed Ration: 100 percent Effective.

The effectiveness directly corresponds to the health of your water buffalos, so it is best to give them mixed ration. In other words, loading your pastures with a combination of fodders would give you the best results.

For instance, feeding your water buffalos with a mix of hay and grass would give you 100 percent effectiveness. Additionally, you can also keep your Meadow Grass, and add in SiIage or Hay to increase effectiveness too.

All these things can be grown in the game; however, buying them from shops is also an option.

Buying from shops is very expensive, so keep this option as the last resort, if you don't want unnecessary expenses.

Providing Water For Your Pastures

If you’re using a Cow Pasture, you’ll need to provide water manually. To do so, you’ll first need to purchase a vehicular barrel. You can purchase one why visiting a Vehicle Shop and find one under the Animal Category.

Attach the barrel to a tractor and take it to a water source, for example, a river. Place the barrel near the water source as it barely touches it. You’ll get an option to refill it. Press R or press the Left Stick to fill the water barrel.

Once the tanker is loaded, take it to your Cow Pasture and place the barrel on the water drop icon. You’ll get an option to dump the water and refill your pasture.

Getting Waste Products From Water Buffalos

Water buffalos are very useful as they also produce usable waste products like manure and slurry. Both of which can be used to fertilize your fields and increase your crop yields.

Providing water buffalos with straw will give you manure, while giving them anything else will produce a slurry. These can be dispersed over fields by using Manure Spreaders and Slurry Tankers. These can be purchased from Vehicle Shops and be found under the Yield Improvements category.

Additionally, you can also sell slurry to earn money. To transport it, you’ll need to buy a Slurry Transport, which again, can be found in the Yield Improvements category.

To get slurry out, you’ll need to place a tanker or transport tanker under the cow dung icon to get a refill option.

As for manure, you’ll need to build an extension to store it. Open the build menu, and on the left-hand side, you’ll find a barn icon and click on it. On the third tab, you’ll get the Silo Extensions, and scroll down to find Manure Heap Extensions. Place this near your barn to store your manure produce.

Do not buy Manure Heap, as it provides manual storage solutions. Instead, choose Manure Heap Extention, as it automatically stores mature from barns.

You can carry manure by placing a Manure Spreader or a Trailer on the drop-off icon next to the Manure Heap Extension.

Water buffalos start producing milk after they hit puberty and produce offspring. The breeding age for these starts at 18 months onwards. If you’re not in a rush, try buying young buffalos for cheap and grow them slowly to get the most out of them.

To sell Buffalo Milk, you’ll first need a tanker to carry it to sellers. You can buy a tanker from Vehicle Shop, which can be found under the Barrels category. Drive the tanker to your barn and place it on the milk canister logo next to it. You’ll get an option to fill the tanker and carry your goods.

Earning from Buffalo Milk is calculated at the rate of per 1,000 liters. Usually, buffalo milk sells for good prices throughout the year and reaches $11,340 per 1,000 liters during peak seasons. Additionally, you can also transport it to Production Chains to make by-products like Buffalo Mozzarella, Bottled Buffalo Milk, and other products.
