In the expansive world of Aloft, navigation is key. Luckily, several methods exist to guide your aerial voyages, especially with the procedurally generated map.

After obtaining the Stormchaser recipe (from a knowledge stone), you can use this invaluable tool to locate specific rare landmarks, such as knowledge stones and corrupted ecosystems.
Aloft is a vast open-world survival game currently in early access. This guide may be updated as the game develops.
Aloft's skies are enormous. While exploring is fun, the Stormchaser (found in the Navigation tab of your home island's crafting menu) provides a faster way to find specific locations. This machine directs you to important islands.
Need crafting recipes? Search for nearby knowledge stones (they can be surprisingly well-hidden!). Looking for home island upgrades? Hunt for a lost anchor. Focusing on ecosystem restoration? Locate corrupted islands or unhealthy ecosystems.
Unhealthy ecosystems are also marked (yellow) on your table map. The Stormchaser's unhealthy ecosystem option is most useful early in the game, before you've personally discovered all such islands.
Building the Stormchaser requires 20 stone, ten Windstone Crystals, and five charcoal.
To use it, you'll need one Purified Water, one Charcoal, and five Windstone Shards, plus a fourth ingredient (see table below). You offer these resources in exchange for directional guidance.
Resource | Cost to Track |
---|---|
Knowledge Stone | 5 Windstone Gems |
Lost Anchor | 10 Rock Salt |

Unhealthy Ecosystem | 3 Moonstone Flowers |
Corrupted Island | 10 Mykter Fibres |

The Stormchaser emits smoke, indicating the target's direction. Use this, along with your table map, to pinpoint your destination.
