During each and every run in Hyper Light Breaker, you’re Bound to pick up a ton of resources. That is, if you’re able to make it through the treacherous Overgrowth and extract in time. If your mission proves successful though, you’ll be rolling in resources in no time to help upgrade your build and help you out on your next run to the Abyss King.
But, if you’re just starting out, it can be tricky to know exactly what each resource is and how it helps you in your quest. So, here’s a breakdown of every resource in Hyper Light Breaker and why they’re worth collecting.
Hyper Light Breaker is currently in Early Access. This information is based on our playthrough of this material and is subject to change with the game’s full release!
Throughout your campaign in Hyper Light Breaker, you’ll use resources that you pick up in your run to do a number of things. These include the following.
Most resources can be found all over the map, however Vendors in the Cursed Outpost will also allow you to sell items in exchange for certain resources.
All in all, there are 11 different types of resources available in Hyper Light Breaker. All of these serve various purposes, though some can be used for the same things.
To break it down, let’s split these 11 resources up into three categories.
Currency resources are resources dropped by enemies and found in the Overgrowth that can be used in the Cursed Outpost to buy Blades, Rails, Holobytes, Amps, and more.
You can also use these resources to upgrade weapons and amps you find in the Overgrowth.
These resources are typically plentiful, and you’ll earn quite a few on each run. Here’s a breakdown of each resource and what they do.

There is one additional resource worth noting, and that’s Phantom Fragments. These are more like collectibles than resources, but they’re worth seeking out anyway.
Phantom Fragments are found at random locations throughout the map.
Phantom Fragments are the memories of the Crowns, or the Overgrowth’s bosses.
Trade these in to Pherus Bit at the Cursed Outpost to unlock narrative artwork that fills in details about the world of the Overgrowth.
Now that you have a basic understanding of these resources, you might be wondering, which ones are actually important?
While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to that question, it is important to prioritize permanent upgrades in Hyper Light Breaker over temporary ones. This is because most of your resources carry over between cycles.
Brightblood, Materials, and Cores carry over, and are converted into Golden Rations, and can be used for permanent upgrades.
Maximizing resources like Golden Rations, and others that help permanently upgrade your build are ultimately more important.
Spend your Brightblood and Materials to get the weapons you need to earn these upgrades – it’ll be worth it in the end.
Remember, some resources go away in between cycles, these include Medigems, Keys, and Prisms.
