NVIDIA released a supercomputer in the form of PC, and I was immediately attracted by it. However, what attracted me was not its powerful computing power.

This computer, called "Project DIGITS", is NVIDIA's latest supercomputer, which comes in the form of a small PC that can be placed quietly on your desktop like other PCs. The AI-oriented device uses what NVIDIA calls Grace Blackwell’s new super chip, which is said to have an astonishingly powerful, one hundred trillion floating-point operations. Its target users are scientists and researchers, but that doesn't include me. So I'm going to put aside AI and impressive performance for the moment and focus on something more superficial.

Maybe I'm a little vain, but what I really care about is how it looks. It has a stone-like texture. Maybe I've been living under the "stone", but I've never seen a personal computer with this texture before. It is not difficult to find computer chassis with wooden trim, such as System76's Thelio series or Corsair's 2500D Airflow chassis, which offers a wide range of wood panels. If you are looking for a computer with a natural texture, these are likely to be your final choice.

Project DIGITS's chassis is made of rectangular flat design, reminiscent of stone tablets, creating a nearly biblical sacred atmosphere. You can also compare it to the Rosetta Stone, which may be more appropriate. At least, the current wave of marketers of AI technology will convince you that it has cultural influence like the Rosetta Stone.

I don't treat my computer's appearance as granite

I like to apply their marketing ideas to my PC. Again, there is indeed some pride here, but I like to think that the work I do with my computer will have a lasting impact. It’s appropriate to give the heart of this work a timeless look feel. Maybe it's total vanity; I'm publishing on the internet, and the internet isn't eternal, after all. However, even in the case of a disconnection, a personal computer can still do a lot of work for you.

Look at the computer appearance preferences of different people, some people choose the current retro beige computer appearance. Others like the stylish and solemn look of black computers. There are also people who combine white with RGB lighting for a futuristic look. Personally, I want my computer to have a natural and timeless texture of stone. So while I won't spend $3000 on a computer that performs much more than I need, I'm going to look for PC cases in various geological styles in Etsy and other stores.
