SitePoint NFT Project Update: The first batch of Origami Rhino NFTs sold out!

SitePoint Origami Rhino NFT Drop #2 - Electric Boogaloo

Surprisingly, our first 10 Origami Rhino NFTs sold out in just 4 days! In the process, we have accumulated valuable experience, details are as follows.

Origami Rhino Second Edition

Our second batch of NFTs will be officially released on Monday, November 8th. Once again, we offer 10 unique, high-quality SVG NFTs through the OpenSea.io platform. Each NFT contains 12 months of SitePoint Premium membership and each NFT is only redeemed by its owner.

Come on, let's see your charm!

Compared to the first batch of distributions, there are some significant differences this time:

  • We sell with Polygon version of Ethereum, which makes transactions faster and safer without paying high “gas fees”.
  • This batch of 10 NFTs are sold at a fixed price (0.055ETH) rather than auctioned.
  • A small portion of Rhino NFTs contain SVG animations, which, as far as I know, is rare on OpenSea (most animations are short video loops). Go and check out our works and tell us what you think!

What have we learned?

As we mentioned in the post, this project allows us to quickly learn about the technology and community in the NFT field. Here are some important lessons learned:

  • Ethereum's transaction fees (i.e., "gas fees") fluctuate violently, ranging from "a little high" to "completely unbearable", depending on the number of other transactions being conducted simultaneously. Just like Uber's peak-hour pricing.
  • Choose the best trading time is crucial to success.
  • Polygon network is free of charge, but its usage rate is lower than that of ordinary Ethereum networks. Is this a barrier for buyers? It's too early to draw conclusions now.
  • The NFT field is currently full of excitement, wild creativity and huge hype. Just listening to a lot of discussion every day requires a lot of energy. Be prepared.
  • SVG is an underutilized format on OpenSea. Most animations are short video loops. Although SVG creations require more technical requirements, CSS, symbols, and animations can be used to achieve effects that other NFT formats cannot. I'm developing some ideas that I think are very unique. Stay tuned!
