In Foundation, build your dream village and watch your kingdom flourish! Early game resource management can be challenging, but unlocking trade routes provides a vital solution. This guide explains how to access and utilize this crucial feature.
Initially, resource production is limited by space. Trade routes allow resource exchange with other kingdoms, but must be unlocked first.
Unlocking Trade Routes
Each route requires delivering specific goods to unlock trading privileges. The Royal Book (third icon from the left) reveals trade route requirements. The Trade Routes menu, accessible from the Royal Book, allows you to unlock new routes. Carefully consider the costs and available goods before unlocking a route, as some kingdoms offer similar items.
Northbury Trade Route
Unlocking trade with Northbury, often part of the tutorial, requires 20 planks. Build a woodcutter's station and sawmill to produce these. Once 20 planks are in your warehouse, the route unlocks.
Myddle Trade Route
Myddle demands 20 common clothes. Unlocking clothing production (Progression menu, level 10, 50 gold) allows you to build a Sheep Farm, Weaver Hut, and Tailor's Workshop to produce the required clothes. Alternatively, purchase cloth from Northbury. Myddle offers valuable mid-game resources like wine, beer, and iron, as well as early-game bread.
Davenport Trade Route
Davenport allows bread and meat sales, and offers fish, marble, and common wares. Unlocking requires 20 bread (unlock Farming at level 10 for 50 gold, then build a wheat farm, windmill, and bakery). Purchasing bread from Myddle offers an alternative.
Trotbury Trade Route
Trotbury offers meat, coal, stone, and wood. Unlocking this route requires only 15 Labour Influence, earned by completing Labour estate quests.
Kinstone Abbey Trade Route
Trade with Kinstone Abbey involves honey and wax sales, and purchases of iron, butter, meat, and polished stone (useful for the Clergy Route). Unlocking requires 15 Clergy Influence, gained through Clergy estate quests and Monastery building.
Castle Harbour Trade Route
Selling weapons (ideal for the military route) and buying steel, iron, tools, and polished stone are possible with Castle Harbour. Unlocking requires 15 Kingdom Influence, gained through Kingdom-related buildings and quests. Unlocking the castle (Progression menu, level 10) helps accelerate this process.
Buying and Selling Resources
Remember that buy and sell options vary per kingdom. The Resources menu (fourth icon in the Royal Book) shows available trades (up/down arrows). Set thresholds for automatic selling (downward arrow) and buying (upward arrow) to manage your resources effectively.
