WhatsApp now lets you preview voice messages before you send them

Voice message, whether you love it or hate it, is an integral part of any messaging application. They allow you to easily convey what you want to say when you can’t type, and there’s no better way to get into all the details of your friend’s date last night than just making a phone call.

Most applications have voice messaging capabilities and allow users to listen to clips before clicking to send. This prevents them from sending nearly inaudible recordings, or worse – a few minutes of silent messages.

Until recently, WhatsApp did not have a playback option. But this week Meta updated its messaging app for iOS, Android, and the web, allowing you to check recordings before clicking send. This feature is currently being rolled out to mobile devices, so if it hasn't arrived on your device yet, check your app store for updates.

How to listen to voice messages on WhatsApp

To record voice messages on WhatsApp, tap and hold the microphone icon and say your content. On both mobile devices and the web, you will find the button to the right of the text field. To activate hands-free recording on the mobile app, tap and hold the microphone icon and drag it up to lock it in place. On the Internet, just click on the icon and record.

Before the latest updates to WhatsApp, messages will be sent automatically the moment you release the microphone button unless you lock the microphone button. Now, when you release your finger, the recording will stop, but your message will wait for you as a draft until you are ready to send.

During this time, you can listen back to your voice message to make sure you are not saying the wrong thing, the truck is not overshadowing your voice, or the recording is not the sound of your phone in your pocket, because your headset microphone is turned off .

If you are using WhatsApp's web client, you can also add more to your messages. When you click the microphone button, recording will start and the icon will immediately become the pause button - click it to stop recording. When finished, the button will be turned back to the microphone. Click it again and continue recording multiple times as needed before sending.

Unfortunately, you cannot do the same on your mobile device. When you click Record on Android and iOS apps, the microphone icon will become the Stop button . After clicking it, you can choose to listen to your message, send it, or delete it completely by clicking the play button .

This new feature will allow you to send better voice messages, which will only increase the chances of others listening to your voice messages. Just don't abuse privileges and send the entire podcast.
