While large monsters are the hallmark of the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Wilds shines a spotlight on the smaller endemic life forms inhabiting the Forbidden Lands. Many researchers require your assistance in documenting these creatures, and one of your early tasks involves tracking down the shy Tracktail Lizard.

Unlike the larger monsters, endemic life isn't marked on the map. These tiny creatures are scattered throughout the game world. Your first encounter will be with the Tracktail Lizard, a creature known for its skittish nature.

Initiating Dareel's Research

You can collect endemic life from the game's start, although early collections won't yield significant rewards. Importantly, you must recapture each creature for each research quest. Dareel's request focuses on the Tracktail Lizard in the Windward Plains.

This quest becomes available at the Windward Plains base camp after defeating Rey Dau. A quest marker will appear on your map. Simply speak with Dareel to begin.
