In Monster Hunter Wilds, you've encountered a vast array of creatures, from the colossal Nu Udra to the minuscule Quatrefly. However, the Forbidden Lands hold even more undiscovered endemic life. Dareel's final research request challenges you to locate one of the smallest: the elusive Gillopod. This seemingly simple task proves surprisingly tricky. Let's embark on this quest, uncover some endemic life, and finally settle this researcher's dispute.
Dareel and Samin await at the Windward Plains Base Camp, seemingly unconcerned with fieldwork. To begin this quest, you must have completed both previous research quests ("Research Report" and "Research Report (Cont.)"). Fortunately, this final quest is immediately available after completing the previous ones, without needing further story progression.
The objective is to find a Gillopod. These tiny creatures closely resemble Pillopods, making identification challenging.
Gillopods reside in Wyveria (accessible in the post-game). They are easily confused with Pillopods found in Wyveria and the Iceshard Cliffs. The key difference: Pillopods are bluish-purple with black eyes, while Gillopods are light purple with glowing orange-red eyes. Both are small and flat, making them difficult to spot.
Both species inhabit subterranean areas, clinging to lower walls. In Wyveria, Area 7, descend the slope toward the incubation area. Near the slope's bottom, you'll find both a Pillopod and a Gillopod amongst the rubble.
Collect both for completeness and return to Dareel. This concludes his quests, rewarding you with Honey and Gloamgrass buds. Now, prepare for Samin's final, and significantly more difficult, request.
