Countless endemic creatures inhabit every corner of this world, and this final research report focuses on the most challenging to find: the Sandstar.

Samin, after much anticipation (and apologies for his ongoing feud with Dareel), has tasked you with one last research quest. This time, the challenge is significantly higher.

Starting the Quest

To begin, visit the Windward Plains Base Camp and speak with Samin and Dareel in their research tent. Having completed previous reports, including Dareel's Gillopod quest, you'll receive Samin's final request: finding the Sandstar. He'll provide more clues than usual, which you'll definitely need.

Locating the Sandstar

The Sandstar is only active at night in the Windward Plains' desert regions (Areas 11, 13, and 15). Begin your search early in the night, as it disappears at dawn. You can adjust the time and weather in your tent. The Fallow weather condition is recommended, as the darker skies make the Sandstar's blue glow more visible.

To increase your chances of a Sandstar spawn, try running to Rey Dau's nest, climbing the area with Wedge Beetles to the left, and then returning to the desert.

Catching the Sandstar

The Sandstar is incredibly fast and acutely perceptive. You can't outrun it, and it will always detect you, regardless of your approach. Chasing it on your Seikret will only cause it to burrow.

Instead, use Sonic Bombs or Shrieker Pods (from the Baunos) to temporarily incapacitate its hearing. Be cautious; direct hits can kill it. A near miss will cause the Sandstar to fall, giving you a brief window to capture it with your Capture Net before it burrows away.

Reward and Conclusion

Upon successful capture, Samin rewards you with five Wild Herbs and ten batches of Honey. While modest, the reward pales in comparison to the difficulty of the quest. At least you're finally free from Samin and Dareel's never-ending rivalry!
