Two Point Museum: A Curator's Guide to Building the Perfect Museum
New to the world of museum curation? Two Point Museum's introductory Prehistory museum might leave you feeling a little overwhelmed. Fear not! This guide covers essential tips and tricks for building successful museums.
Managing a museum requires juggling various aspects, from quirky guests to challenging expeditions. This guide will help you master the art of curation.
Explorer Edition Extras
Two Point Museum offers a standard edition and an Explorer Edition. While both provide core gameplay, the Explorer Edition boasts exclusive content:
Mixing Museum Themes
Each campaign location features a unique theme. While sticking to a single theme is generally recommended, you can combine exhibits from different museums once you've progressed. This is significantly easier in Sandbox mode, where you can hire any specialist regardless of the museum's theme and access all furniture and merchandise from the start.
Revisiting Past Museums
The campaign starts at Memento Mile (Prehistory). After completing the first chapter, you can open a new museum (Supernatural or Marine Life). You can always return to previous museums to complete all five chapters and earn achievements. There's no time limit, allowing you to progress at your own pace.
Unlocking Places of Interest (POIs)
Sending staff on expeditions requires selecting a POI. Early POIs have simple requirements, but later ones demand specialized staff training and campaign progress (e.g., reaching specific financial or ranking goals). Some POIs require items or expertise from multiple museums.
Understanding Dream Visits
Each guest type has unique preferences. Regularly check guest information to identify their "Dream Visit" – a high-requirement goal that increases their satisfaction and likelihood of donating.
Room Templates
Save frequently used room layouts (staff rooms, bathrooms, gift shops) as templates for reuse in other museums. This saves time and ensures consistency.
Kudosh Items in Sandbox Mode
While Sandbox mode offers freedom, Kudosh items unlocked in Campaign must be unlocked again in Sandbox, then purchased with in-game cash. Completing Sandbox goals rewards Kudosh.
