In Monster Hunter Wilds, acquiring rare crafting materials is a common challenge. Sharp Fang is one such material, not dropped by the larger story campaign monsters, but readily available if you know where to look. The more environments you unlock, the easier it becomes to farm.

Sharp Fang sources increase with game progression. Here's how to obtain it:

Sharp Fang Locations

Sharp Fang is a monster material carved from three small monster types: Bird Wyverns, Leviathans, and a specific Construct. While not guaranteed per carve, the abundance of these creatures makes collection relatively quick.

Monster Name Monster Type Habitat How to Obtain Sharp Fang
Talioth Bird Wyvern Windward Plains Carving
Gajios Leviathan Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest Carving
Piragill Leviathan Scarlet Forest Carving
Kranodath Bird Wyvern Oilwell Basin Carving
Porkeplum Bird Wyvern Iceshard Cliffs, Ruins of Wyveria Carving
Guardian Seikret Construct Ruins of Wyveria Carving

Of these six, Tailoths and Piragills are recommended. They're plentiful, drop additional useful materials (Earth Crystal and Parashrooms respectively), and reside in relatively safe areas.

Sharp Fang Uses

Sharp Fang is required for two early Low Rank armors:

  • Talioth Vambraces: Grants the Leap of Faith skill (longer dive-evade).
  • Chatacabra Coil: Grants the Speed Eating skill (faster potion/item consumption).

Chatacabra Coil is generally preferred due to the significant benefit of Speed Eating, especially for early-game players.

High Rank Farming

After completing the Low Rank story ("Lured by Abundance"), the game transitions to High Rank, with a separate loot pool. Low Rank zones cannot be downgraded.

To farm Low Rank monsters in High Rank, accept a Low Rank (three-star or below) Optional Quest from Alma. Eliminate the Sharp Fang monsters, then select "Return to Quest" to keep your loot without completing the quest.
