This Lenovo Laptop Has a Screen on the Wrong Side
Lenovo's New Foldable Laptop Concept: A Light-Powered Wonder?
I'm weary of constantly recharging my wireless office accessories. Lenovo's new concept laptop, the Flip AI PC, offers a potential solution – and much more.
1 This innovative laptop boasts a 13-inch display in clamshell mode, expanding to a remarkable 18.1 inches in Vertical Mode. This effectively creates a portable dual-monitor experience using Workspace Split Screen functionality, mimicking the benefits of a dual-screen setup without the bulk.
The internal specifications are impressive, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a substantial PCIe SSD, Thunderbolt 4 ports, a fingerprint sensor, and a backlit trackpad with integrated media and numpad controls. However, as this remains a concept, these specs are secondary to the groundbreaking foldable display.
While Lenovo hasn't disclosed specifics, the display is likely OLED. The marketing materials, like many high-end Lenovo laptops, heavily emphasize "advanced AI acceleration" and other AI-related features.
Crucially, this is a concept device. However, given Lenovo's history of bringing unusual concepts to market (like the Yoga Book 9i, ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid, and ThinkBook Plus Gen 6), the Flip AI PC's transition to a real product is plausible. In fact, it's one of their more restrained concepts.
Should it launch, the final product might differ slightly. Internal hardware is unlikely to be downgraded, but durability and aesthetics could be refined.
The practicality of this design is debatable. My experience with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 and a similar Lenovo concept earlier this year leaves me preferring a traditional laptop. The outward-facing foldable screen raises durability concerns, although Lenovo's inclusion of a protective fabric cover mitigates some of these risks, offering both protection and privacy.
The Flip AI PC is just one of Lenovo's MWC 2025 announcements; the company also unveiled several new ThinkBook, ThinkPad, and Yoga Pro Aura Edition laptops.
